Contracts Manager

Limited Duration Contract

A vacancy exists in the Boiler and Environmental Business Unit at Koeberg Nuclear Power Station, for a person who works well with others, who has initiative and drive, and is able to work under pressure.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Manage communications/ correspondence strictly according to the contract requirements 
  • Liaise with Quality Specialist as required for approval of suppliers to the nuclear department suppliers list
  • Prepare Requests for Proposals / Quotations 
  • Partake in the commercial evaluation of offers 
  • Manage letter of regret process 
  • Validate subcontract/supplier applications for payment 
  • Prepare applications for payment to the Client 
  • Manage subcontract/supplier agreements 
  • Manage main contract notices (to/from Client) i.e. early warnings, compensation events, etc. 
  • Manage inputs, preparation, and submission of the daily diary to the Client 
  • Manage inputs, preparation, and finalisation of monthly reports to the Client 
  • Provide input into the project dashboard
  • Assist with monitoring of actual costs against budget and identifying focus areas 
  • Implement accurate man-hour controls and track actual man-hours against budget 
  • Preparation of quotations for additional work instructions (compensation events) 
  • Preparing submissions for compensation events in relation to impacts from the Client or others 
  • Provide guidance and support to the project team on contractual and commercial issues arising from contracts including contract interpretation, issuance of proper and timely contractual notices, possible claims and issue resolution, and interface on contract management. 
  • Provide advice and recommendations to team members regarding contractual and legal implications of potential project strategies and decisions
  • Assist the Project Manager in managing the risk register with budget, expenditure, subcontractor, and suppliers
  • Evaluate and report on contract/project performance throughout their lifecycle
  • Liaise as required with organisations, employees, customers, vendors, and independent contractors 
  • Drafting, evaluating, and negotiating contracts/agreements

Desired Experience & Qualification

Minimum Qualifications 

  • Legal/BSC Degree in Engineering/Construction 
  • Thorough Knowledge of contracts 
  • Background in construction or related field 
  • Proficiency in Ms Word, Excel, and Power point

Experience

  • 10 years’ experience in industrial/engineering projects, with commercial and management experience 
  • 5 years in Nuclear Industry will be advantageous
