Responsibilities






THIS IS A CASUAL POSITION WORKING A MAXIMUM OF 900 HOURS PER CALENDAR YEAR.

 

Program Planning & Controls (PP&C) is looking for students interested in a fast paced, exciting summer intern opportunity to support our PP&C team. Undergraduate PP&C Interns will work under the direct supervision of a manager & mentor completing challenging work assignments in support of project planning, execution, and controls.  Opportunity to learn scheduling, estimating, cost reporting, and multiple system applications like Oracle, Primavera P6, Cobra, and Access reporting tools.  Work is comprised of daily assignments to support projects, and also contributions to broader strategic PIO management initiatives.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Support PIO on various tasks and initiatives.
  • PIO support may involve working in one or more of the following organizations:
    • Project Controls
    • Estimating
    • Project Controls Applications Group (Systems)
    • Program Management Excellence (Procedures and Training)
  • Responsibilities can include:
    • Cost and schedule support as part of a project team.
    • Support the development and execution of project and functional planning.
    • Develop, maintain, and monitor performance baselines, including the change control process.
    • Development of public speaking skills, including presentations on projects worked or special training topics to the larger group.

Qualifications






Due to the nature of our work, US Citizenship is required for all positions.

  • Completion of first year towards a Bachelor's degree in Technical or Business-related field at an accredited institution.
  • Must be actively enrolled in school.
  • Must have and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, as of the date application is submitted.
  • Must be located in the contiguous United States.
  • Basic computer skills including the use of spreadsheets, word processors, and databases.
  • Advanced MS Excel skills desired.
  • An aptitude for numbers and data exporting/importing. 
  • Must be detail-oriented.
  • Work Location primarily will be the Losee Road facility in North Las Vegas, Nevada with occasional travel to the NNSS (Nevada National Security Site) located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada.
  • Work schedule for this position will be 4/10’s, Monday – Thursday (subject to change).
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver's license.

Ability to obtain a HSPD-12 Personal Identity Verification credential under the Department of Energy Order 206.2, ‘Identity, Credential, and Access Management,’ and Supplemental Directive NNSA SD 206.2, ‘Implementation of Personal Identity Verification for Uncleared Contractors.’

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
