Team Leader, Electrical - Capital Engineering

Location: RG7 4PR, located between Reading and Basingstoke, with free onsite parking. Hybrid working is available for this role on an informal, non-contractual basis. Typically 2-3 days onsite per week.

Package: Β£62,000 - Β£80,000 (depending on your suitability, qualifications, and level of experience)

Let us introduce the role

AWE's Group Leader Engineering Specialist is now recruiting for a Team Leader, in the Capital Engineering Team, to lead and manage an electrical technical team; providing effective leadership as the main contact point for all team

members and/or other team leaders. You will be required to strategically maintain a technical capability that delivers critical skills and resources aligned to current and future business requirements in order to deliver the integrated

technical programme.

You'll be working in conjunction with the Control & Instrumentation Team Leader to develop a combined, cohesive and resilient, high-performing Electrical, C&I discipline overall. In addition, the successful candidate is expected to support and delegate for the C&I TL and (vice versa) during times of absence.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Translating business strategy to mobilise resources in a safe, secure and efficient manner

  • Ensuring that the team produce high quality work, that has been subjected to the correct AWE governance processes as applicable

  • Ensuring that the work undertaken by the team and/or teams is consistent with AWE strategy, policies, processes, procedures, and quality standards

  • Leading effective stakeholder management to engage others in order to have a positive impact on decisions and programme delivery

  • Ensuring that the team maintain accurate configuration of electrical engineering deliverables

  • Providing an agile capability, delivering critical skills and resource aligned to business requirements underpinning the Capital Programme

Whilst not to be considered a tick list, we'd like you to have experience in some of the following:

  • Degree in STEM discipline, equivalent NQF level 6 qualification or equivalent experience

  • Previously held a people management role

  • Experience of successfully managing projects across teams

  • Experience of successfully managing a high performing and motivated team

  • Proven track record of delivery, performance and continuous improvement

  • You will need to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role. This will be funded by AWE. The nature of our work does mean you need to be a British Citizen who has been resident in the UK for the past 5 years in order to apply for SC clearance and 10 years for DV.
