The Role


Cameco's climate change team within the corporate safety, health, environment, quality and regulatory relations department is responsible for developing and delivering Cameco’s overarching climate change strategy to support the reduction of operational and value chain greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, proactively managing climate-related risks and opportunities relevant to our operations and value chain, preparing and communicating climate action reports and engaging on climate-related policy and regulation. The team also supports the organization in understanding, preparing for and completing annual sustainability reporting for regulators, customers, investors and other stakeholders based on existing requirements and evolving national and global trends.


In this role, you will:


  • Lead the analysis and interpretation of existing and new climate, sustainability and/or environmental, social and governance (ESG) voluntary and regulatory reporting requirements and compile insights on potential organizational impacts to develop recommendations for Cameco
  • Coordinate the collection and reporting of Cameco’s annual sustainability/ESG and climate action data
  • Analyze and interpret collected data to identify opportunities to continuously improve performance as well as provide internal and external reporting based on trends and changing standards
  • Support the collection and reporting of sustainability and climate information as requested by external stakeholders
  • Work collaboratively with internal groups and individuals from a variety of professional backgrounds and disciplines to gather feedback and develop positions on changing sustainability and climate-related policies and/or voluntary and regulatory reporting requirements
  • Support the development of materials and processes to effectively organize and communicate Cameco’s climate and sustainability action information to internal and external audiences
  • Participate in climate-related physical risk management and adaptation assessments, organizational engagement activities, energy/emissions management assessments and initiatives at industrial operations

Required:


  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant environmental, applied science, policy or engineering field
  • A minimum of five to eight years of relevant experience, with preference towards sustainability, climate change, nature, biodiversity, policy/regulation or ESG reporting experience
  • Strong communication, collaboration, project management and data analytics skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suite

Recommended:


  • Previous experience in the mining or nuclear industry
  • Applicable professional designation, certification or certification in-progress
  • Familiarity with Canadian and Saskatchewan regulations governing sustainability and climate action
  • Knowledge of globally recognized sustainability and climate-related disclosure and reporting requirements, such as the International Sustainability Standards Board, Canadian Sustainability Standards Board, Taskforce for Climate-related Financial Disclosures or Taskforce for Nature-related Financial Reporting

Salary Range: $85,000 - $107,000
