In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Regulatory Affairs, Bruce C currently has a Senior Strategist opportunity to support our exciting Bruce C Project (Impact Assessment).

This is a temporary opportunity which could be for a period of up to 24 months and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

The Regulatory Affairs Bruce C department is accountable for regulatory interactions with respect to the Bruce C new nuclear development, including the execution of the Impact Assessment and Licence to Prepare Site process. The Regulatory Affairs Bruce C team will work in close collaboration with the Bruce C new Build team to support overall Bruce C pre-planning activities.

The Senior Strategist, Business Strategy role is instrumental in the execution of the Bruce C impact assessment within the Regulatory Affairs Bruce C department, the individual would be responsible for delivering technical and oversight support to enable the federal major projects approval process, integrating the new build team to ensure organizational alignment, collaborating with various internal and external subject matter experts, seeking and implementing industry & sector lessons learned, and coordinating with regulators. Additionally, they would support Bruce Power’s commitment to achieving a new standard of engagement with Indigenous Nations and Communities and local communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Adopt and promote the Bruce Power values, demonstrating leadership in behaviours that support these values.

  • Foster teamwork and a stimulating work environment.

  • Support and lead technical deliverables in support of the Bruce C impact assessment and license to prepare site project

  • Support engagement with industry utilities and sectors to acquire lessons learned and OPEX

  • Support various cost recovery deliverables, including reporting, oversight, and claims submissions

  • Integration and Alignment with other Departments and Bruce Power Divisions, especially New Build, Finance, Business Development and transformation and others.

  • Builds strong cross-functional work relationships with other Bruce Power departments to continuously improve performance and to remove challenges that may prevent the achievement of key deliverables

  • Provide support and assistance to Senior Leaders in managing the division in accordance with applicable legislation, policies, programs and agreements.

  • Maintain up-to-date documentation, related to assigned functions, which lays down requirements for ensuring that correct and safe practices are followed.

  • Ensure value for money and achievement of the division's business plan.

  • Monitor performance and initiate any actions necessary to correct any adverse trends.

  • Manage responsibilities in a manner which always seeks to enhance the Company's corporate reputation.

  • Maintain the confidentiality of the commercially sensitive information.

  • Develops and delivers written reports and formal presentations to the customer, stakeholders and regulators, on relevant matters specific to the Bruce C IA program and offers thoughtful responses to questions and concerns

  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Experience in interacting with the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission is an asset

  • Experience in Indigenous engagement is considered an asset

  • Strong technical competency and business acumen to recommend and lead solid courses of action based on available information and/or by tapping into the knowledge held by experts in and out of the company.

  • Ability to articulate and solve complex problems and concepts.

  • Proven experience in supporting cost recovery programs, such as the LAMP (Lifetime Asset Management Program) is an asset. Strong background in cost management and reporting, with a demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and generate comprehensive reports

  • Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills.

  • Experience in advising, strategizing and communicating business and people strategies/initiatives.

  • Confident interpersonal skills to effectively work with Senior Management, and external stakeholders.

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of a four (4) year university degree in a relevant field such as Engineering, Accounting, Finance or Business Commerce.

  • A period of 8 years up to and including 10 years is considered necessary to gain this experience
