In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Information Technology team is currently hiring for a Senior Program Manager.

The Information Technology division is responsible for providing timely, innovative, stable, and secure technology and information solutions throughout Bruce Power. The IT Division's services and solutions are aligned with Bruce Power's top priority of equipment reliability and are in line with the company's top three focus areas.

The Senior Program Manager will be responsible for overseeing and ensuring the safe delivery of multiple large-scale and complex inter-related IT and business projects under Project Moonshot. These projects include Bruce Power’s Maximo Upgrade Project, the migration of our Data Center to the cloud, business process improvements from Kaizen events, and the implementation of a private cellular network within our Stations and across the site. This role demands a strategic thinker with strong leadership skills, business acumen, and the ability to manage cross-functional teams to achieve program and project goals. The ideal candidate will have experience managing large-scale projects within Bruce Power, including within the Stations, and possess a strong understanding of project controls applications and processes. This role requires effectively balancing the competing demands of quality, scope, time, and cost. The Senior Program Manager will report to the Chief Information Officer (CIO).

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?

Program/Project Planning, Monitoring, Coordination, and Reporting:

  • Promote a Nuclear Safety Culture and ensure compliance with Environmental and Health & Safety regulations.
  • Direct Program/Project Managers throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Oversee the execution of policies and procedures.
  • Resolve project issues and evaluate program status.
  • Provide expert counsel and coordinate with stakeholders.
  • Review program deliverables and contribute to process development.

Aligning and Integrating Program and Project Priorities with Other Bruce Power Departments:

  • Collaborate with other Directors/Department Managers to ensure project teams receive necessary support.
  • Integrate all functions into a comprehensive management plan.
  • Coordinate technical developments and provide evidence of compliance with quality program requirements.
  • Anticipate problems and develop strategies.
  • Establish communication plans and deliver reports and presentations.
  • Serve on corporate governance boards.

Staff Recruiting, Selection, Development, and Leadership:

  • Evaluate staffing requirements and assign projects.
  • Manage resources and develop goals and procedures for project managers.
  • Monitor strategy success and guide staff.
  • Promote a positive work environment and foster a learning culture.
  • Attract and retain high-performance staff.
  • Provide performance feedback and contribute to the corporate budget.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Proficiency in CSA N286-05 / N286-12 standards and relevant Environmental & H&S legislation.
  • Knowledge of IT best practices, including ITIL, COBIT, SDLC, and project management best practices, i.e. PMBOK.
  • Experience in construction methods, contingency planning, and value-added techniques.
  • Familiarity with management systems and procedures in technical disciplines.
  • Familiarity with Bruce Power project management applications including Primavera P6, EcoSys, ARM and ServiceNow
  • Skill in Earned Value Management Techniques.
  • Strong communication skills, both persuasive and credible, with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and thrive in a complex environment.
  • Highly developed leadership skills.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
  • Proficient in presentation and negotiation skills.

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is typically acquired through completing a four-year university degree (Grade XII plus five years) in engineering, science, project management, business administration, or a related field, or through an equivalent combination of education and work experience in a related field.
  • Certification by the Project Management Institute (PMI) as a Project or Program Management Professional (PMP, PgMP) and/or demonstrated familiarity with the PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge (PMBOK®).
  • A Master’s degree in engineering, project management, business administration, or a related field is considered an asset.
  • Over 10 years, up to 12 years, of experience as a mid-level or higher program or project manager, with at least five years of managing complex projects in a safety-critical environment, such as a nuclear licensed site, is necessary to gain this experience.
  • A proven track record of project management and successful delivery of high-value projects ($5MM-$25MM+ per project) and/or a portfolio/program of multiple complex projects within the expected scope, quality, schedule, and budget.
  • Experience spanning the entire program or project lifecycle from inception to closeout.
  • Experience in establishing and managing a Project Management Office (PMO) is desired.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience successfully implementing projects within Bruce Power space, in particular within the Stations.
