In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Data, Advanced Analytics and AI department is currently hiring for a Senior Information Systems Analyst.

The Data, Advanced Analytics and AI department is accountable for the lifecycle of digital information products and services, including their implementation, operation, and eventual deprecation. We also manage the tools, processes and governance used for analytics and reporting at Bruce Power.

The Senior Information Systems Analyst is responsible for developing branch information management strategies, procedures, policies, and guidelines, as well as providing advice on their interpretation and monitoring proposals. They collaborate with users to identify application opportunities and offer business, systems, and technical expertise on specific information management development projects. Additionally, they plan, coordinate, design, develop, implement, operate, and maintain branch information systems. They also assist in planning, coordinating, and delivering training courses and education in information systems.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and deploy integration solutions using IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE).

  • Analyze business requirements and translate them into integration solutions that align with organizational goals.

  • Build and manage integration flows, message transformations, and data mappings using ACE.

  • Integrate various applications, services, databases, and APIs using IBM ACE and related technologies.

  • Ensure high availability and performance of integration solutions by implementing best practices.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to integration flows and middleware environments.

  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including business analysts, solution architects, and project managers, to deliver robust integration solutions.

  • Implement security protocols and adhere to compliance requirements for data integration processes.

  • Document technical designs, development procedures, and user guides.

  • Stay updated with the latest developments in IBM ACE and related integration technologies.

Specific Accountabilities:

  • Establish standards to assist the Manager in the development of an integrated and/or interfaced information management framework.

  • Work with users, line unit support staff, consultants and vendors to identify opportunities for new applications or enhancements.

  • On assigned projects, work with a senior project leader in planning, coordinating, designing, developing, implementing, operating and maintaining department information. Frequently act as the team leader.

  • Provide a minimum set of standard and supported applications, operating systems and communications protocols.

  • Assist the Manager in reviewing and providing assessments of the department system proposals and monitoring of their implementation and operation.

  • Under the guidance of the Manager, provide a consulting service related to the computing (hardware and software) systems and information technology needs of the department. Define the problem areas and develop alternative approaches for solution and their effect upon related aspects of the department and line units' budgets. Provide data, advice and support to management and staff within the division.

  • Prepare and make presentations on all aspects of systems development. Develop and provide direct training to users whenever it is more cost-effective or customized training is more desirable.

  • Maintain inventory records on all computer hardware, software and communication components within the department as a basis for assisting in the preparation of a consolidated information technology business plan and budget.

  • As required, represent the department on committees or task forces both internal and external to Bruce Power and influence parties to comply with actions beneficial to the division’s interest.

  • Act as a consultant in providing technical guidance and support to students, local support staff, and consultants.

  • Maintain a constant awareness of the "state-of-the-art" in the information technology field and current issues and trends both in the section business as well as information management, information technology and system development methodologies.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Requires experience to be able to define information systems requirements and to design, develop and/or acquire and implement required systems or databases for the Branch.
  • Requires experience to become familiar with the overall operation and function of applicable computer and business systems.
  • Requires experience to acquire a knowledge of the Branch organization serviced by the Department, and of the operational characteristics and functions of application systems, databases, products, computers and associated equipment.
  • Requires experience in the analysis and design of computer networks in order to select and carry out the necessary studies to adequately assess and respond to user needs regarding computer hardware/software and databases.
  • Requires experience to understand the Branch functions and information systems in order to provide technical guidance and support to others.
  • Requires experience to become familiar with the procedures and policies governing equipment acquisition and approval levels.
  • Proficient in creating message flows, message sets, and using tools such as IBM Integration Toolkit.
  • Hands-on experience with ESQL, Java, and XML/XSD/XSLT.
  • Expertise in integrating SOAP and RESTful APIs.
  • Familiarity with messaging standards such as MQ, JMS, and Kafka.
  • Strong knowledge of database systems (e.g., DB2, Oracle, SQL Server) and writing SQL queries.
  • Experience with cloud-based integrations and hybrid environments is essential.
  • Strong experience with IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE) or IBM Integration Bus (IIB).

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training.
  • A period of over eight years and up to and including ten years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
