In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our End User Computing and Cloud Services Department is currently hiring for a Senior Information Systems Analyst.

The End User Computing and Cloud Services Department is accountable for the management, planning and maintenance of the end user productivity applications for Bruce Power. Our goal is to maintain a stable and secure environment, while driving modernization and enabling the business via technology. In Short, improving the end user computing experience.

The Senior Information Systems Analyst is instrumental to the successful delivery of end user technology solutions. This role has a primary focus on the Microsoft technology stack (and associated management and deployment methods) knowledge of the global technology landscape is beneficial. Activities include overseeing computer system design, performing in depth analysis and evaluations of existing and emerging hardware and software technology, Coordinating and participating in the review of existing system applications as well as leading tasks groups regarding the development of long-range information management plans/objectives that will meet the business unit's requirements in the area of computer systems, applications, services, equipment and resources.

This is a permanent position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and maintain department business and office information management systems strategies, Approved change standards, policies, guidelines and architectural framework.
  • Develop and make effective recommendations on the adoption of policies, practices and procedures including associated work methods.
  • Provide advice, guidance, and instruction to personnel in the division regarding interpretation and explanation of new information management systems policies, practices and procedures.
  • Establish standards to assist the Manager in the development of an integrated and/or interfaced information management framework.
  • Work with users, line unit support staff, consultants and vendors to identify opportunities for new applications or enhancements.
  • On assigned projects, work with a senior project leader in planning, coordinating, designing, developing, implementing, operating and maintaining department information. Frequently act as the team leader.
  • Provide a minimum set of standard and supported applications, operating systems and communications protocols.
  • Assist the Manager in reviewing and providing assessments of the department system proposals and monitoring of their implementation and operation.
  • Under the guidance of the Manager, provide a consulting service related to the computing (hardware and software) systems and information technology needs of the department. Define the problem areas and develop alternative approaches for solution and their effect upon related aspects of the department and line units' budgets. Provide data, advice and support to management and staff within the division.
  • Prepare and make presentations on all aspects of systems development. Develop and provide direct training to users whenever it is more cost-effective or customized training is more desirable.
  • Maintain inventory records on all computer hardware, software and communication components within the department as a basis for assisting in the preparation of a consolidated information technology business plan and budget.
  • As required, represent the department on committees or task forces both internal and external to Bruce Power and influence parties to comply with actions beneficial to the division’s interest.
  • Act as a consultant in providing technical guidance and support to students, local support staff, and consultants.
  • Maintain a constant awareness of the "state-of-the-art" in the information technology field and current issues and trends both in the section business as well as information management, information technology and system development methodologies.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training.
  • A period of over eight years and up to and including ten years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
