In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Enterprise Application department is currently hiring for a Senior Information Management Specialist.

The Enterprise Application department is accountable for supporting all lines of business applications including Cribmaster, P6, Workday, ServiceNow, Aveva and more. Nuclear Operations, Work Management, Engineering, Supply Chain, MCR, Outages and all other groups rely on this team to ensure that their technology platforms are stable and effective.

The Senior Information Management Specialist provides leadership and technical expertise and support regarding the design, development and/or modification, maintenance of new, complex, large scale and/or existing computer systems, applications etc. Activities include overseeing computer system design, performing in depth analysis and evaluations of existing and emerging hardware and software technology, coordinating and participating in the review of existing system applications as well as leading tasks groups regarding the development of long range information management plans/objectives that will meet the business unit's requirements in the area of computer systems, applications, services, equipment and resources in preparation for open market competition.

This is a permanent, full-time position which offers a competitive benefits, compensation and pension package and is located on site in Tiverton, Ontario.

What will you be responsible for?

  • Supervise the work program and associated staff of up to four Senior Information Systems Analysts.

  • Provide leadership to task groups/project teams and/or coordinate, participate in activities involved in reviewing existing systems and applications to direct current and future activities toward the overall long range plans/objectives.

  • Provide technical support within the section and, as requested, across the business unit in the support of existing and new systems. Ensure, where necessary, the compatibility and successful integration of new systems with existing systems, developing documentation where necessary.

  • Responsible for complex projects specific to the design and implementation of computer/information management systems that includes providing technical advice and guidance with respect to the following activities:

    • the surveying and analysis of current systems to ascertain users' needs and the effectiveness, deficiencies etc., of the systems,

    • feasibility studies to establish general design parameters and/or to determine the technical and the economic feasibility of redesigning existing information systems and the implications of providing and/or implementing alternatives,

    • reaching agreement with users regarding system products that involves modifying products as necessary to satisfy technical, economic or management requirements and determining control information requirements and/or providing other expert advice,

    • guiding implementation of new or modified systems and providing required user instructions and procedural manuals,

    • developing documentation deemed necessary in connection with the foregoing activities.

  • Activities involve reviewing current usage of systems/applications and identifying problem areas; reviewing future requirements for expansion and/or modification and ensuring that all alternatives are, or have been identified and that selected alternatives are compatible with the long term objectives; determining the long range requirements of the users and reflecting these in the planning process for resource and development services and describing the long term plan to guide the development of new or revised systems.

  • Maintain liaison with personnel of all business units within the organization to monitor continual development of new systems and revisions or modifications to existing systems resulting from changing technology and improved procedures.

  • Lead and/or participate with others in the performance of in-depth analysis and evaluations of existing and emerging hardware and software technology. Assess the current and

  • Future applicability of such technology to the business unit's requirements. Evaluate alternatives, provide financial analyses and develop appropriate short and long term strategy recommendations.

  • Maintain an industry leader awareness of changes in equipment and systems technology and new or revised software programs applicable to the facility management function. Keep management informed of relevant developments and recommend the investigation, testing, etc., of applications which appear to have potential value.

  • Identify business systems related opportunities (technology as an enabler) and initiatives to enable cost savings and/or information improvements across the business unit and at the company level.

  • Lead and/or contribute to the leadership of task groups/project teams etc., regarding the development of long range information management plans/objectives that will meet the business unit's requirements in the area of computer systems, applications, services, equipment and resources necessary to fulfil these requirements and to prepare the business unit for open market competition.

  • Oversee overall computer systems design activities to ensure that they are compatible with long-range plans/objectives and that they are being carried out in accordance with established financial policies. Provide expert advice to task groups/project teams etc., regarding the long range plans/objectives and the impact of various computer design alternatives on same, in anticipation of open market competition.

  • Liaison with external vendors to ensure they are meeting the team objectives, delivering with quality, and adhering to our processes.

  • Periodically supervise the work of contract staff assigned that includes work assignment, work instructions and work checking.

  • Perform other duties as required.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Design, development, operation and maintenance of complex and large-scale computer systems/information management systems.
  • Planning and conducting studies to define requirements and providing systems solutions to meet those needs.

  • Preparation of financial and business case justifications.

  • Preparation of budgets and forecasting of resource requirements.

  • Corporate and multiple business unit experience to become familiar with the organization and the diversity of business systems, environments, procedures and group interrelationships and in recognizing the logical requirements of the systems needed to satisfy management objectives.

  • Project management experience to implement new technology and business systems.

  • Capabilities in supporting Enterprise Software experience in ITIL best practices and IT operations, knowledge of implementation of SaaS and custom applications, knowledge of Windows desktop and server administration to support the development and implementation of solutions using SQL server, Oracle, and Linux, would be assets.

Education and Experience:

  • A period of 8 years up to and including 10 years in considered necessary to gain this experience

  • This knowledge is normally considered to be gained by completion of a four (4) year University degree in relevant field such as Computer Science, or Computing and Information Science
