Salary: Starting at £48,030, with potential for negotiation based on skills and experience.

As a Senior Cost Engineer at AWE, you'll be part of a team working on one of the UK's most complex infrastructure programmes. This role is crucial to national security, and you'll be joining at a pivotal moment as the UK government invests significantly in improving our infrastructure.

Your Role:

In this multifaceted role, you'll be responsible for all aspects of cost management on a critical construction programme. You'll work with various partners, so strong relationship-building skills and stakeholder engagement experience are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establishing, developing, and maintaining accurate cost data and reports, including forecasts, performance analysis, earned value, cash flows, and monthly reports on the Actual Cost of Work Performed (ACWP).
  • Implementing procedures, processes, and systems.
  • Managing the capacity and deployment of Business Management team members.
  • Preparing, monitoring, and controlling forecasts and budgets for specified projects, including change control.
  • Interrogating systems and performance to ascertain actual expenditure and project accruals.
  • Assessing supplier Applications for Payment.
  • Preparing cost reports, including trend analysis and early warnings.
  • Conducting detailed SPI, CPI variance analysis, and root cause analysis, followed by recommendations and recovery planning.
  • Establishing the Project Cost Breakdown Structure (CBS) and preparing cost studies using historical data.
  • Developing benchmarking information to meet specific needs.
  • Providing trended data to the Project Manager based on performance and emerging trends, including recommendations.
  • Tracking workforce productivity and analysing time booked to projects, including resource usage vs. planned, resource constraints, etc.

What We're Looking For:

  • Professional qualification with chartered or equivalent status.
  • Success in a Project Controls environment or similar cost role on a major construction project.
  • Proficiency with cost tools, Excel, and IT.
  • Ability to build rapport and create strong relationships.
  • Skills in motivating and building teams.
