Job Description: AtkinsRéalis is seeking an experienced Resident Engineer for a high-profile Design & Build (D&B) infrastructure project in the UAE, focusing on bridge construction. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in bridge design, management, and site operations. The Resident Engineer will be responsible for overseeing the contractor's progress on-site, ensuring design compliance, coordinating with the design team, and managing site activities in alignment with client expectations. This role demands a dynamic, assertive leader capable of managing a challenging contractor environment, with a deep understanding of local regulations and authorities' requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the Resident Engineer on-site, providing technical leadership and ensuring all aspects of the project are completed in accordance with project plans, specifications, and safety standards.
- Oversee the contractor's bridge design team to ensure timely progress, quality, and alignment with project requirements.
- Coordinate closely with AtkinsRéalis internal design team to ensure designs are accurately implemented and address any design-related issues on-site.
- Monitor and supervise all construction activities related to the bridge and infrastructure work, ensuring adherence to quality, safety, and compliance standards.
- Ensure that all work complies with local regulations, standards, and the requirements set forth by AD authorities.
- Manage daily site operations, ensuring project milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Develop, review, and maintain comprehensive site documentation, including progress reports, quality control documentation, and safety records.
- Enforce strict quality assurance and control measures to maintain the highest standards of construction on-site.
- Manage site safety protocols, ensuring that all safety measures are observed and reporting any safety concerns promptly.
- Provide regular updates to the client (Aldar) and project stakeholders on project progress, risks, and issues.
- Proactively identify and resolve potential problems or delays, providing technical solutions and corrective actions as needed.
- Manage the flow of information between the contractor, client, and design teams, ensuring all parties are well-informed.
Required Qualifications & Experience:
- A minimum of 20 years of experience in civil engineering with a focus on bridge design and construction.
- Significant experience in managing large-scale infrastructure projects, particularly bridges, with an emphasis on Design & Build (D&B) delivery.
- Proven experience as a Resident Engineer, with a strong track record of overseeing site operations and managing contractors.
- Solid understanding of bridge design processes, construction methodologies, and site management.
- Experience in managing and coordinating the contractor’s design team, ensuring progress and quality of deliverables.
- Familiarity with local regulations and requirements from AD authorities (Abu Dhabi).
- Strong background in construction site supervision, risk management, quality control, and safety compliance.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage challenging contractor relationships effectively.
- Must have worked on bridge projects.
