The Refurbishment Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for leading and managing quality control activities for the Pickering Refurbishment Project. Reporting directly to the Quality Assurance Director, the QA Manager will ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and Black & McDonald's Nuclear Quality Program. This role requires a strong leader who can foster a culture of quality, safety, and continuous improvement while collaborating across departments to deliver high-quality results. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in the nuclear industry and a proven track record of effective quality management.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead with Excellence: Manage quality activities, meeting standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Innovate Processes: Monitor and enhance the performance of quality activities to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Collaborate Across Departments: Work closely with cross-functional teams to identify and resolve quality-related issues, ensuring seamless integration of quality initiatives.
  • Training and Development: Conduct quality training sessions for construction and project staff.
  • Support Estimation Efforts: Provide expert input and accurate estimates for jobs under the Black & McDonald’s quality program as it relates to QC work.
  • Inspection and Test Planning: Serve as the primary liaison with TSSA and interface with the Client quality oversight to ensure compliance.
  • Build a Strong Team: Recruit, train, and mentor QC staff, fostering a culture of quality and safety across the team.
  • Lead Inspection Team: Oversee a team of Quality Control Inspectors, ensuring consistent application of QC standards and practices across the project.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • College diploma or university degree in Engineering, Technology, Quality, or a related discipline.
  • National Board training/certification in “A” or “N” Commission is considered an asset.
  • CSA W178.2 Certification is considered an asset.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in quality control, with a preference for experience in the nuclear industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and manage large-scale QC activities effectively.

SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Extensive knowledge of nuclear codes and standards, including ASME III, CSA N285, CSA N299, and ISO standards.
  • Proven leadership skills with the ability to mentor and develop high-performing teams.
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proficiency in fostering collaboration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other relevant technologies.
