Job Description

The Piping team is in charge of the detail design of 300km of piping network of the Nuclear Island, up the start of the fabrication and erection on site. The goal of the piping engineer is to make sure the piping network is executed accurately in the plant design, respecting system requirements, specifications and configuration changes. Largely being in the post-handover phase of design delivery, the Piping Engineer will be responsible for integration of design changes and outstanding open points into the submitted design. They are expected to contribute to the Open Point and UK Design Change management processes for their designated building, ensuring that impacts to the design are properly categorized and logged prior to their resolution. The Piping Engineer will support the building lead engineer in the delivery of CTS work packages within the team and will have the following responsibilities:

Participation in the CTS delivery process including participation and chairing kick off meetings and delivery of documentation
Oversee the piping & support design (clamp, beams, anchor plate...) and their modelling in the 3D model
Preparation of CAD tasks for designers in tracker (until transition to We-CAD) and following up completion
Participate in and lead troubleshooting investigations for emergent design issues
Ensure the right application of the engineering procedures by the designers and the overall consistency of the piping and support design (distance between runs, position of welds and openings, etc.)
Interface with other departments of the organisation to facilitate closure of issues
Maintain a high quality for all aspects of design in the PDMS model
Ensure that the design is mature and can be handed-over to the client, and that the hand-over package fulfils the requirements given by the Project
Propose technical solutions to issues that are found on the generic design concept
Ensure the right level of communication between different stakeholders (calculation team, layout, equipment)

Qualifications

Mechanical Engineering degree or suitable diploma
Knowledge of piping engineering and plant design principles
Able to follow project engineering procedures
High competency for organization with the ability to deliver in a busy design office and work as part of a team
Good level of communication to be able to support the team and share knowledge
Knowledge of Aveva PDMS/E3D or experience with similar plant design packages
Knowledge of RCC-M code
Experience in nuclear projects is advantageous
High level of technical coordination

Additional Information

Fixed Term Contract - 12 Months
Location: Bristol with hybrid working- 3 days on site, 2 days WFH
Salary/rate will depend on experience
