Rate of Pay: $60.17/hour + DOE (base pay includes 12.5% per diem premium)

Summary

Responsible for the support, troubleshooting and optimization of Diagnostic Imaging specific systems such as Picture Archiving & Communication System (PACS), Voice Recognition and other systems utilized by the Diagnostic Imaging department with regard to physician and staff productivity.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Maintains the day-to-day operation of Radiology Information System (RIS)/PACS ancillary equipment including personal computers, document scanners, printers, etc. working closely with the hospital IT Department and vendors.
  • Monitors and assists in maintaining the network, workstations and user accounts in conjunction with the IT Department
  • Maintains the day-to-day operation of a radiology-based distributed workflow system.
  • Establishes and maintains network and Digital Imaging & Communications in Medicine (DICOM) connectivity between PACS and imaging modality equipment such as Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Computed Tomography (CT), Ultrasound (US), Nuclear Medicine (NM), Positron Emission Tomography (PET), Computed Radiography (CR) and film digitizers in conjunction with the IT Department
  • Trains and updates end-users on the use of RIS/PACS, and all department/ hospital systems applications with training documentation and operating reference materials
  • Troubleshoots and resolves end-user RIS/PACS and all systems problems.
  • Provides technical support to all sites including physician’s offices and radiologist’s residences during normal work hours. May require off-hours and/or on-call support for special projects.
  • Maintains hardware and software inventory.
  • Sets up, configures and monitors end-user workstations.
  • Establishes and manages user accounts in conjunction with the IT Department.
  • Communicates with vendors and manufacturers to escalate service issues.
  • Works closely with management to identify future needs and design efficient workflow processes.
  • Coordinates and verifies system backups.
  • Monitors HL-7 interfaces and server performance.
  • Performs other related duties incidental to the work described herein.
  • Prepares and maintains quality indicators and reporting frequency as requested
  • Provides reports as requested by DI Director, Radiologists and DI Leadership Team
  • Demonstrates System Values in performance and behavior.
  • Complies with System policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as may be assigned.

Education and Experience

Graduate of a JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology program.

Licenses, Certifications

Preferred: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Registry; Minimum of an Associate’s degree in Radiologic Technology

Certification in Health Level Seven Organization (HL-7) Control Specialist certification;  American Board of Imaging Informatics(ABII) Certified Imaging Informatics Professional Certification; PARCA - CPAS or CPSM Certification, CIIP certification through ABII. Current Basic Life Support for Healthcare certification.

Other Experience/Qualifications

3-5 years’ experience working in an imaging department with superior knowledge of imaging workflow; 2 years prior experience as PACS/Clinical Systems Analyst preferred. Prior experience with VMware, vSphere, and ESXi desired. 

Computer/Business Skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to work effectively with diverse groups of people. Ability to work well under pressure and on concurrent, multi-disciplinary projects. Ability to take call during off-hours as needed for special projects. Ability to travel to remote sites and physicians’ offices for on-site support. Advanced understanding of operating systems software (Windows Desktop and Server) required. Advanced experience and knowledge with radiology information and workflow management applications required, along with working knowledge of radiology /healthcare workflow. Knowledge of HL7 interfaces preferred.
