Role Overview

We are seeking a motivated and experienced Nuclear Safety Consultant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance on nuclear safety, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and contributing to the delivery of safe and sustainable nuclear operations. You will work closely with clients, regulators, and multidisciplinary teams to solve complex challenges and deliver robust safety solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct nuclear safety assessments, including safety case preparation, review, and validation.

Develop and deliver nuclear safety documentation in line with UK regulatory frameworks.

Provide technical advice on hazard identification, risk assessment, and mitigation strategies.

Engage with clients, stakeholders, and regulators to ensure alignment with safety objectives.

Support the development and delivery of safety management systems and operational procedures.

Mentor and guide junior consultants to develop their technical and professional skills.

Stay updated on industry developments, best practices, and regulatory changes.

Safety Case Production (e.g. SJP, PCSR, PCmSR, PRS)

Modification/ Design Change Submissions (LC/AC 22)

Decommissioning (desirable)

Functional Safety Assessment

• Availability, Reliability and Maintainability (ARM) (desirable)

• System Safety

• ALARP Assessment

• Safety & Risk Assessment

• Deterministic Safety Assessment

Remote role with occasional travel to site.

Qualifications

A degree in a relevant engineering or scientific discipline (e.g., Nuclear Engineering, Physics, Mechanical Engineering).

Proven experience in nuclear safety consultancy or a related field.

Strong understanding of UK nuclear safety regulations and frameworks (e.g., ONR Safety Assessment Principles, IAEA guidelines).

Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.

Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to present complex technical concepts clearly.

Ability to work independently and collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams.
