Job Description

The Nuclear Civil Engineering Expert will provide specialised technical expertise and guidance within the Nuclear Engineering department. This role is crucial in ensuring that all nuclear engineering projects adhere to the highest standards of quality, safety, and regulatory compliance within the UK context. The expert will engage in innovative civil engineering practices, contribute to academic discourse, and promote knowledge sharing within the industry.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead the technical design, analysis, and implementation of civil engineering solutions for nuclear projects, ensuring compliance with UK industry standards and regulatory requirements.
Conduct advanced research and contribute to the development of new methodologies in nuclear civil engineering, including on the life extension and decommissioning of existing facilities.
Liaise with technical experts at the France headquarters to ensure alignment and integration of best practices, experiences, and tools in civil engineering.
Present technical findings and innovative solutions at scientific conferences and seminars, both nationally and internationally, to enhance the visibility and reputation of Egis in the UK nuclear sector.
Collaborate with UK academic institutions as a guest lecturer or industry advisor, promoting knowledge exchange and fostering partnerships that benefit both industry and academia.
Publish technical papers in relevant journals and contribute to the body of knowledge in nuclear civil engineering, particularly in the UK context.
Provide technical mentorship to engineering staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
Stay updated on advancements in civil engineering, regulatory changes, and emerging technologies relevant to the UK nuclear sector.
Engage with key stakeholders, including regulatory bodies (e.g., Office for Nuclear Regulation), to ensure effective communication and collaboration on civil engineering projects.
Prepare and present detailed technical reports, proposals, and presentations, clearly articulating complex engineering concepts to diverse audiences.

Qualifications

PhD or Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, or a related field (Chartered Engineer status and Fellowship membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) or equivalent is highly desirable).
Extensive experience in civil engineering roles within the UK nuclear sector or other high-stakes industries, with a strong focus on technical excellence.
In-depth knowledge of civil and structural engineering principles, seismic analysis, and regulatory compliance specific to the UK nuclear field.
Proven track record of presenting at scientific conferences and publishing in academic journals.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical and innovative engineering solutions.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a focus on engaging effectively with diverse stakeholders and presenting complex information clearly.
A commitment to mentorship and knowledge sharing within the engineering community.
