We currently have an exciting opportunity for a for a skilled Manufacturing Services Technician to join our team in Washington.

In this role, you will provide support to the Manufacturing Services Leader and Manufacturing Services Engineer to ensure the organisation’s objectives and goals are delivered. The Manufacturing Services Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs and maintenance on manufacturing assets and all associated production equipment located in production or assembly & test facilities.

You will be working for the Rolls-Royce Technical Authority for Aerospace Engine Test Facilities. In this role you will be working with colleagues locally (either in Derby or Bristol), and opportunities also exist to work more widely within the UK as well as Internationally.

What you will be doing:

In this role you will perform a range of routine, reactive, troubleshooting and preventive maintenance tasks across a broad range of manufacturing assets and production equipment across a plant, site or business, to ensure that manufacturing equipment is safe, available and capable for use when required, you will also:

  • Utilise precision diagnostic instruments during maintenance.
  • Analyse equipment data to inform and implement the most effective approach towards maintenance.
  • Collect, organise, and analyse data in support of Key Performance Indicators for the Manufacturing Services Department as required.
  • Read and interpret machinery and component drawings, circuit/logic diagrams & schematics, maintenance manuals, and parts catalogues to enable maintenance and diagnostics.
  • Identify and recommend improvements to production equipment and maintenance procedures. Research and implement improvements.
  • Suggest improvements to work instructions to optimise the electrical installation / maintenance strategy.
  • Coordinate preventive and planned corrective maintenance activities with Production Staff, regularly communicating and interfacing with Production Leaders, Team Leaders, and Production Operators.

  • Work with site Manufacturing Engineers to help understand and restore equipment performance to standard.
  • Work alongside/support equipment OEM engineers as required.
  • Consistently perform asset maintenance activities in order to ensure that equipment and facilities are safe and reliable to a high performance standard.
  • Support the effective induction of new team members and support cross-training of other team members.
  • Utilise problem solving skills and ability to make sound recommendations based on judgement, training and previous experience.
  • Able to process Work Orders and pull reports from the Computerised Maintenance Management System.
  • Safely operate site specific equipment as require med with appropriate training.

For this role you will need to demonstrate understanding of the appliable health and safety standards and we are looking for someone who is/has:

  • NVQ/SVQ level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline including completing a time-served recognised apprenticeship*.
  • HNC in a relevant engineering discipline desirable.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic pneumatics principles and operation
  • Basic IT literacy and ability to work to engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of local and regional health and safety standards and regulations.
