An exciting and unique opportunity has arisen for a Logistics Operations Manager to be responsible for the development and delivery of the ongoing Logistics strategy for the Submarines business.

Rolls-Royce Submarines is entering a once in a generation period of substantial growth and is looking for a talented Planning & Control professional to lead the functional growth for Logistics Operations – being accountable for development of strategy, capture of long term business requirements and deployment of innovative solutions.

This leadership role will be directly responsible for a team of professionals, ensuring clear alignment of processes to their strategy, supporting and coaching business areas to maintain high levels of compliance, and maintain full control of our obligations to the UK MOD around Government Furnished Equipment. Working beyond the direct team, the successful candidate will integrate across the deployed logistics operational teams to ensure the overall logistics provision is optimised and effective.

Acting as a key member of the Planning and Control functional leadership team supporting the whole Submarines business, our role is to ensure that we have an innovational Logistics Strategy to keep up with changing needs of the business, and provide functional direction to the Logistics Operations teams dispersed across the business areas.

What you will be doing

  • Functional ownership, governance of Logistics processes (S7 /C5.5)
  • Line management of functional team with responsibility for:
    • GFE management
    • Transport ; Export / Import
    • Building management and facility control for RRSL Logistics facilities
  • Coaching & development for operational team and driving continuous improvement to the Logistics provision for RRSL
  • Project management of all improvement activities, spanning process, system and capacity expansion of facilities.
  • Operational oversight – support and provide escalation support to the entire operation and support with problem solving.
  • Develop the overarching logistics strategy for Operations, storage space, Transport, recruitment, development, GFE, budget etc.
  • Budget control for functional and operational activities including building maintenance and management.

  • Logistics operational management across multiple locations
  • Proven track record of operational KPI improvements
  • Proven track record of operating in a continuous improvement culture
  • Good knowledge of SAP and it’s capabilities
  • Ideally qualified to degree level in a business and supply chain discipline
  • Knowledge of internal and external regulations.
  • ASCM/CILT qualifications advantageous

To work for the Rolls-Royce Submarines Business an individual has to hold Security Check (SC) clearance without any caveats to that clearance. Rolls-Royce will support the application for Security Clearance if the individual does not currently already have this in place.

Due to the nature of work the Business conducts and the protection of certain assets a person has to be a UK national or in MoD approved cases a Dual National from a non ITAR country.
