Job Title: HSE Business Partner

Working Pattern: Full Time

An exciting new opportunity has arisen at Rolls-Royce Derby, as we seek to recruit a HSE Business Partner to join our Team.

The role will involve the HSE Business partner coaching managers in effective HSE leadership and implementation.

They will be the principal HSE point of contact for assigned responsibilities and accountabilities and deliver on agreed improvement plans and be proactive in seeking out emerging issues.

They will also, Identify and promote good practice. They will work collaboratively with the wider HSE function to build a sense of team, and alignment to Business and functional strategies.

What you will be doing:

In this exciting new role, you will have a chance to:

  • Risk Management Maintain good risk management, including up to date local risk profiles, to keep management informed and drive prioritised improvement actions.
  • Identify common issues to incorporate in business-based improvement programmes. Ensure HS&E critical controls are identified, managed (including through appropriate maintenance programmes) and effectively assured.
  • Leadership and Culture Set expectations and lead by example on the Journey to Zero Harm.
  • Lead improvements to functional or business HSE maturity by proposing and implementing changes.
  • Represent the business on functional initiatives and lead changes, including on business initiatives. Engage beyond our sites on initiatives to optimise the programme. Manage your team, including their development where applicable
  • Governance Deliver good HS&E governance (structure, process and content) locally, including the HS&E Accountability Framework, in partnership with management. Monitor the effectiveness of the governance structures and raise concerns when needed to improve it. Support HS&E and business agenda items, including improvement programmes and the addition of local issues. Provide subject matter expertise and challenge when issues or actions are not given due consideration.
  • Standards and Compliance Support improvements in the implementation of the HS&E management system, including Management and Control Standards and associated documents. Maintain registers of the standards and legislation that apply locally, including an assessment of the compliance status, and initiate improvement activity as appropriate.
  • Emergency Planning Support improvements in the implementation of the HS&E management system, including Management and Control Standards and associated documents. Maintain registers of the standards and legislation that apply locally, including an assessment of the compliance status, and initiate improvement activity as appropriate
  • Shared Learning, Respond to incidents and maintain communications on the situation as needed. Coach managers to undertake and complete investigations. Further, analyse incident data to identify and understand trends and to propose improvements actions. Support the sharing of incident learnings and apply learnings from elsewhere in a prioritised way. Monitor and communicate action closure status arising from incidents
  • Performance Reporting Identify, report and validate the required data through the HS&E MIS. Present HS&E performance using the standard reports and the HS&E balanced scorecard. Undertake further detailed analysis of data to support the development of performance improvement initiatives and to monitor progress against objectives and targets.
  • Planning Lead the timely identification of local HS&E priorities and prepare supporting business cases as needed. Help prepare the HS&E BPD by considering resource constraints etc. Lead projects, including project plans, monitor business wide progress and support leadership in sponsoring and managing these.
  • Monitor local progress to the BPD through HS&E governance arrangements and interface with and feedback on any Global HS&E Services provision.
  • Assurance Develop the local risk-based assurance programme, consistent with the Business programme, including on compliance with legal and other requirements. Monitor progress and support business leaders to deliver their lower tier assurance plans. Interpret, communicate and drive action on trends and insights. Use assurance findings to improve risk management.
  • Stakeholder engagement and communication Building on the Business arrangements; identify, prioritise, agree with management and implement engagement plans with HS&E stakeholders. Use good communications practices to support improvement and change. Maintain good relations with Regulators.
  • Right Capability Identify local competency requirements and add to the business development plan. Monitor progress against the development plan, in particular for HS&E critical roles. Identify gaps in learning solutions and work with Corporate HS&E to address them. Actively seek and engage in development opportunities and agree an individual development plan with your manager
