Job Description

The salary for this role is Β£26,156. Onsite working is expected for 3 days a week, however, we actively support requests for flexible working.

This role is based at the following site; Culham, Oxfordshire.

This role requires employees to complete an online Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS), including The Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) checks for criminal convictions and possibly a search of open source data.

The Role

Are you looking for an exciting opportunity to make a difference? Join our team and contribute to the future of fusion energy. As Finance Operations Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing assistance to finance and business unit staff with financial processes and other ad hoc support.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage goods receipting issues
Complete general administrative tasks
Provide assistance with general financial queries
Support on period end routines
Enter journals and budgets into the ERP system (UNIT4)
Determine cost allocation between programmes, identifying where these meet capitalisation criteria, with responsibility for a set of routine allocations
Provide support and assistance with timesheet tickets and issues including missing and unapproved timesheets and incorrectly booked hours, plus timesheet reporting
Support with audit, contract or grant queries
Assist with financial reporting and planning
Complete maintenance of ERP structures, such as delegations of financial authority and creation of new work orders
Complete other financial accounting and tax-related tasks
Test the ERP system, particularly new versions before implementation
Assist with the annual rolling programme of asset verification
Provide cover for other members of the team where appropriate
Support and guide the Finance Apprentice(s) where appropriate
Cover for the Treasury Accountant for payment runs, bank reconciliations etc.

Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

Experience working within an accountancy environment or strong administrative background
Strong time management skills including the ability to prioritise the workload
Good written and oral communication skills, with a detail-oriented approach in your work
Good attention to detail
Ability to work as a team player & under their own initiative
Proficient in Excel (advanced – pivot tables, vlookups etc.)
Ability to handle and manipulate numeric data accurately to produce reports
