What You'll Do


  • Provides construction site engineering resources and expertise during construction phases of projects to interpret designs, adjusts designs to meet site conditions, manages technical issues, performs field inspections, monitors technical submittals and configuration management, verifies installed quantities, supports construction supervision, and provides final technical approval of completed construction tasks to ensure construction conforms to design specifications.

  • Provides support to Construction direct-hire craft by performing Electrical Field Engineering responsibilities supporting construction projects or technical oversight for subcontracts.

  • Provides technical/programmatic guidance on multiple and complex construction management tasks.

  • Completes assigned tasks under minimal supervision and technical direction.

  • Reviews and interprets drawings and specifications to determine if information is adequate for successful completion of construction.

  • Oversees construction work for compliance with drawings and specifications.

  • Performs constructability reviews during design preparation and execution.

  • Maintains direct relationship with the Construction Managers/Construction Superintendents and the responsible Project Managers (PM) to execute the scope of work.

  • Provides technical support in all phases of construction formation, project execution, testing/inspection, and project closeout.

  • Maintains records of installed quantities and completed construction work.

  • Participates in obtaining any required permits/clearances, lockouts, Escort Agreements, and work authorizations prior to commencing work on site.

  • Performs verification of work in progress to ensure requirements of safety, security, quality (technical drawings and specifications), environmental control, workmanship, and schedule are met.

  • Transmits completed files to PM, as necessary, upon work completion.

  • Assists in the preparation of procedures, administrative and technical documents.

  • Prepares purchase requisitions for materials and services

Minimum Job Requirements


  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Science discipline. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.

  • OR Master’s degree: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience. Typical experience ranging from 4 to 7 years.

  • OR Ten or more years of education and/or relevant experience may be considered to satisfy educational and years-of-experience requirements for this posting.


Preferred Job Requirements


  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with construction craft or supervision in meeting program/project objectives.

  • Experience in construction and technical inspection of electrical design in areas such as installation and testing of electrical systems, lighting systems, high voltage equipment, grounding, and cable pulling activities.

  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of the National Electrical Code and NFPA 70E.

  • Must have effective oral and written communication skills and be able to interact effectively with all levels of personnel and management. The candidate must have above average organizational skills. Knowledge of single or multi-discipline construction operations and processes is required. Must have knowledge with the initiation and processing of Construction Inspection Packaging.

  • Must meet medical requirements to wear respirator and work in hazard-designated areas.

  • Knowledge of organized Construction Labor and Building Trades is desired.

  • Working knowledge of large-scale nuclear construction projects and ASME NQA-1 requirements. International Code Council (ICC) Electrical Inspector Certification or equivalent.

  • Intermediate to advanced experience in field engineering activities of DOE and non-reactor nuclear facility EPC projects.

  • Demonstrated commitment to Environment, Safety and Health (ES&H). Demonstrated commitment to a Zero Accident safety program.

Requires a Q clearance; however all qualified candidates will be considered regardless of their current clearance status. The ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance is required.
