Responsibilities






We have an opening for two Device Assembly Facility (DAF) Operations Controller positions (Senior Nuclear Facility Operations Specialist).

The Device Assembly Facility (DAF) Operations Controller (Senior Nuclear Facility Operations Specialist) will control DAF access and the movement and location of personnel and materials within the DAF.

As an integral part of our DAF team, each position will collaborate with external and internal partners to attain desired success states and sustain successful operations.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • The primary responsibility of this assignment is the control of DAF access and the movement and location of personnel and materials within the DAF, in order to ensure that activities progress in a safe, secure, and orderly manner.
  • Report to the DAF Operations Support Manager, and will support the Nuclear Operations Manager, Operations Supervisors and Facility Supervisors.
  • Serve as Local Emergency Director for critical incidents and off normal events occurring in the facility.
  • Maintain a cooperative relationship with the Protective Force contractor team ensuring cohesive daily operations.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of applicable Federal, State, DOE, Corporate and Site rules, regulations and Site-wide operating policies and procedures.
  • Maintain DAF log keeping in accordance with MSTS requirements.
  • Input required training for DAF access.
  • Maintain strong working knowledge of DAF procedures, TSRs and SACs.
  • Complete the necessary documentation for the movement of material-at-risk (MAR).
  • Coordinate On-Site / Off-Site DAF Shipping and Receiving operations.
  • Maintain Classified repository.
  • Perform other duties assigned by Management.








Qualifications






  • Bachelor’s degree in field related to the position or equivalent training and experience, plus at least 5 years of related experience, which included 2 years’ experience in:
    • Nuclear operations or nuclear maintenance such as those found at a DOE nuclear facility, commercial power plant, or US Navy Nuclear Propulsion Program. Conduct of Operations (DOE O 422.1), Nuclear Maintenance (DOE O 433.1B), Transportation & Packaging (DOE O 460.1C and 461.1B), and Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1D); or
    • High explosives handling and operations; or chemical handling, storage, transfer, and controlled release activities. Conduct of Operations (DOE O 422.1), Transportation & Packaging (DOE O 460.1C and 461.1B), and Quality Assurance requirements (DOE O 414.1D).
  • Nuclear Facility Worker - This position is subject to the requirements of DOE Order 426.2. Education and experience requirements will be screened accordingly.
  • Experience in administrative support functions with progressive experience is highly desired.
  • Experience working with requirements-based systems for areas such as nuclear material operations, facility operations .and maintenance, radiological activities, and conducting system operation lineups of structures, systems and components (SSC).
  • Ability to read and follow detailed instructions utilizing MSTS Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Experience with planning and scheduling to deconflict workload distribution and execution of the work. 
  • Must possess excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact with all types of people in a tactful, professional, and effective manner.
  • Computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and MS Outlook are desired.
  • Current Q Clearance and Human Reliability Program certification highly desired.
  • The primary work location will be at the Nevada National Security Site (located 65 miles northwest of Las Vegas, Nevada). The DAF is located in the forward areas of the NNSS.
  • Pre-placement physical examination, which includes a drug screen, is required. MSTS maintains a substance abuse policy that includes random drug testing.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.

MSTS is required by DOE directive to conduct a pre-employment drug test and background review that includes checks of personal references, credit, law enforcement records, and employment/education verifications. Applicants offered employment with MSTS are also subject to a federal background investigation to meet the requirements for access to classified information or matter if the duties of the position require a DOE security clearance. Substance abuse or illegal drug use, falsification of information, criminal activity, serious misconduct or other indicators of untrustworthiness can cause a clearance to be denied or terminated by DOE, resulting in the inability to perform the duties assigned and subsequent termination of employment.  In addition, Applicants for employment must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q-level security clearance, which requires U.S. citizenship, at least 18 years of age. Reference DOE Order 472.2, “Personnel Security”. If you hold more than one citizenship (i.e., of the U.S. and another country), your ability to obtain a security clearance may be impacted.

 

Department of Energy Q Clearance (position will be cleared to this level). Reviews and tests for the absence of any illegal drug as defined in 10 CFR Part 707.4, “Workplace Substance Abuse Programs at DOE Sites,” will be conducted.  Applicant selected will be subject to a Federal background investigation, required to participate in subsequent reinvestigations, and must meet the eligibility requirements for access to classified matter. Successful completion of a counterintelligence evaluation, which may include a counterintelligence-scope polygraph examination, may also be required. Reference 10 CFR Part 709, “Counterintelligence Evaluation Program.”

Annual salary range for this position is $94,494.40 -  $141,752.00

 

Starting salary is determined based on the position market value, the individual candidate education and experience and internal equity.
