Candu Energy Inc., an AtkinsRéalis company and the Canadian Commercial Corporation (“CCC”), a federal Crown corporation, have signed a contract with Nuclearelectrica S.A. (SNN) to provide engineering, technology and procurement of tooling and reactor components in support of the life extension of SNN’s Unit 1 CANDU® reactor at the Cernavoda Nuclear Power Plant in Romania. As the exclusive licensee of the Canadian-owned CANDU intellectual property portfolio and contributing its unique expertise to all aspects of CANDU technology, AtkinsRéalis is the only organization that has taken a leading role in all CANDU reactor life extension projects to date globally, including those successfully executed or underway in Asia, North America, and South America. In addition, this candidate will also support similar scope of work supporting Qinshan 1 & 2 Refurbishment project.

Based on our current needs, opportunities are expected to be available starting immediately; positions are full time Engineer status at intermediate levels.

Location – Mississauga, ON

Your role within the team:

  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with company procedures and policies.
  • Assembly, repairing and maintaining of nuclear inspection and mockup equipment.
  • Participate in equipment testing programs.
  • Prepare route sheets and edit documents.
  • Complete prioritized work requests on time.
  • Become a nuclear energy worker (NEW).
  • Be willing to travel to vendor and project sites if required.
  • Maintenance of contaminated nuclear tooling and refurbishment activities
  • Eager to utilize hands on skills and contribute to joint team deliverables
  • Strong interpersonal skills, efficient and effective communication (written and oral) and organization skills are essential. Must be “Team” Oriented with a demonstrated ability to work well with others and promote a positive work environment.

The ideal candidate:

  • Revelant Honours degree in a relevant field of engineering from a university of recognized standing.
  • PEO eligibility would be an asset.
  • Working experience between 3 to 5 years in mechanical assembly / testing / repair of nuclear inspection tooling and shop equipment.
  • Analytical problem solving skills.
  • Microsoft Word / Excel / Teams / Visio / SolidWorks.
  • Exhibit excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrate manual skills and dexterity.
  • Knowledge of established engineering design principles and methods.
  • Acts with initiative and independence, seeks supervision when unsure.
  • Have a working knowledge of industrial shop practices or construction experience.
  • Competent in multitasking.
  • Coordinate other technicians/engineers on project deliverables.
  • Coordinate manufacturing and RP work when needed.
