Job Description
The Technologist, Bone Densitometry reflects the mission, vision, and values of NM, adheres to the organizationβs Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance Program, and complies with all relevant policies, procedures, guidelines and all other regulatory and accreditation standards.
The Technologist, Bone Densitometry follows physician orders and performs bone density testing. This role performs quality control daily for the Bone Densitometer. The technician attends to bone density room supply levels to keep par levels in place. This position generates result reports for each patient and performs computer backup testing on a daily basis.
Responsibilities:
Perform daily quality control testing.
Recognizes the importance of accurate testing in the overall patient care system.
Recognizes factors that affect testing results and taking appropriate actions within pre-determined limits, when applicable.
Recognizes and adheres to infection control and safety policies.
Recognizes the responsibilities of other health care personnel and interacting with them with respect for their jobs and for patient care.
Demonstrates an understanding of requisitioning and legal implications of the work environment.
Applies basic principles in learning new techniques and procedures.
Escorts patients to the densitometry room in a timely way.
Performs high quality testing and relaying those tests to the reading physician in a timely manner.
Responsible for stocking and cleaning the room and identifying machine maintenance needs on a continuous basis.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required:
Certified Bone Densitometry Technologist (CBDT) required.
Zero (0) to two (2) yearsβ experience in a relevant role.
Must be able to perform high quality testing and provide precision studies.
Preferred:
Familiar with guidelines for bone density testing as it relates to medical diagnosis and age.
