In support of achieving excellence and business results through safe, reliable operations, our Analysis, Planning & Reporting Division is currently hiring for an Assistant Financial Analyst.
This is a temporary position which may be for a period of up to 24 months, offers a competitive compensation package and is located on-site in Tiverton, Ontario.
Key Responsibilities:
Corporate Reporting
Preparation of journal entries, assisting in preparation of financial statements, preparation of reconciliations.
Controllership Team (Management Accounting)
Preparation of journal entries, assisting in preparation of accountability reports, preparation of reconciliations.
Treasury
Preparation of wire transfers and cheque runs, preparation of cash reconciliations, preparation of bank reconciliations.
Taxation
Assist in the completion of corporate and partnership tax returns.
Corporate Strategy & Business Planning
Assist in the preparation and review of inputs to business plan and loads of business plan data.
Audit & Internal Controls
Assist in the auditing of effectiveness of internal controls and collect and accumulate control data from owners.
Perform other duties as required.
Education and Experience:
This knowledge is considered to be normally acquired through the completion of 4 years of university training (Grade XII plus 5 years) in Commerce or Finance or a related field.
A period of one (1) year up to and including three (3) years is considered necessary to gain this experience.
Applicants will be expected to enroll with the ICAO as a CPA student.
Requires varying skills sets to accommodate each function; however should encompass subjects of financial accounting practices, principles, and concepts, management accounting and control, audit, financial management including planning, budgeting and performance reporting, decision support systems, business economics, information systems and business policy.
Requires good interpersonal skills and knowledge of communication techniques.
Requires some background in the field of financial management and in the operation of business processes and systems including associated computer systems.
Requires knowledge of financial and operational performance reporting principles and processes at a level to be able to assist/support the production of information and interpretations of results.
Requires good verbal and written skills.
Requires demonstration of analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills.
