Transport Manager - Nuclear Transports

Within Equans, we are looking for a Transport Manager for the Specialized Nuclear Services department.

In this role you are in charge of the day-to-day management of the transport activities within the Nuclear Logistics theme. You report to the Engineering Manager Nuclear Logistics and are responsible for a team of transport coordinators and drivers (6-8 FTE). 

You mainly work from Dessel, but we also have offices in Grimbergen and Villers-Le-Bouillet. We offer the possibility of teleworking 1 day/week.

• planning:
  • follow up on efficiency and service level
  • ensuring compliance with relevant legislation (ADR, driving and rest times, load securing, road safety)
  • further digitalization of management systems
• projects:
  • start-up on behalf of the Engineering Manager
  • assign to transport coordinators
  • support

• quotes:
  • supporting project coordinators with layout
  • follow
• staff:
  • managing project coordinators and drivers
  • coordinate leave periods within the team
  • covering absences
  • determine training courses in consultation with the Engineering Manager
  • conduct annual appraisals in consultation with the Engineering Manager
  • checks on tasks performed and working hours
• vehicles:
  • manage fleet in coordination with the Engineering Manager and Asset Manager
  • coordinate maintenance
  • approve repairs
  • correctly applying legislation to vehicles
  • equipping in accordance with national and international standards to be able to carry out categorized transports (Cat I, II, II Irradiated, III)
• contracts:
  • concluding contracts with customers and suppliers
• invoicing:
  • incoming invoicing control
  • outgoing invoicing check
  • reporting to Project Manager
• nuclear transport licenses:
  • contacts with competent authorities
  • coordination, control, applications and follow-up
• reporting:
  • internal
  • external
• meetings:
  • internal
  • external: customers, governments, suppliers
• QA:
  • ensuring customer satisfaction
  • writing and/or updating procedures and work instructions
  • KPIs
  • audits
• professional competence in national and international transport:
  • the holder of professional competence must be responsible for both the actual and permanent management of transport operations
• site visits:
  • both nationally and internationally
• participation in "sensitive" transports:
  • coordination 'in the field'
  • organization management and support of the people in the field
• customs:
  • ATA carnets
  • dual use
  • temporary storage

What do you need?

• experience in the transport sector
• a certificate of professional competence in national and international transport, or you are willing to obtain this
• the ADR and ADR 7 certificates, or you are willing to obtain this
• technical knowledge is a plus
• ability to act decisively
• you are a people manager, team player and stress resistant
• very well organized and accurate in your work
• language proficiency: Dutch/French/English. German is a plus but not a requirement
