Description

At Nevada Heart and Vascular Center (NHVC) the testing coordinator, under the direction of the Radiology Manager and clinic physicians is primarily tasked with patient care and administrative duties. They will assist the patient in obtaining necessary records and labs prior to testing. The testing coordinator will call and inform the patient on expectations and instructions pertaining to the ordered test which may includes nuclear stress tests, positron emission tomography (PET) scans, and computerized tomography scan (CTA). The testing coordinator will be responsible for helping patients schedule and reschedule testing dates. They will need to follow up with patients over the telephone to ensure all needs are being met prior to the testing date.


Requirements

Education and Experience:

· High school diploma or GED.

· Experience in a medical setting is preferred but not required.

· General computer skills with working knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, and email applications.

· Detail-oriented with good analytical and organizational skills.

· Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work cohesively within a team environment.

· Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with patients, staff, physicians, and all levels of management.

  • Attention to detail to correctly identify patient issues and communicate difficulties with managers/physicians/technologists.

  • Preparing correspondence, documentation

  • Follow all HIPPAA regulations
  • Assists with other clerical tasks as needed
  • Obtain lab results for patients prior to patient appointment
  • Explain details of ordered test including necessary requirements to complete test.
  • May refer to senior staff for assistance with higher-level problems that may arise .
  • Escalates issues to the supervisor for resolution , as deemed necessary.
  • Assist with various projects as assigned by direct supervisor
  • Meets and exceeds short and long term goals as established for the department.
  • Performs duties and job functions in accordance with the policies and procedures established for the department .
  • Reports to work , meetings and professional obligations on time
  • Participates in staff meetings.
  • Assists in evaluation of reports , decisions, and results of department in relation to established goals.
  • Recommends new approaches , policies, and procedures to influence continuous improvements in department’s efficiency and services performed.
  • Takes ownership of special projects, researches data , and follows through with detailed action plans.
  • Accurately review, analyze and update patient medical records. and coordinates resolutions between appropriate parties.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee is required to have visual/and auditor acuity necessary for communications with other employees and /or customers to meet business needs of NHVC.
  • Testing Coordinator must be able to see written documentation and be able to speak and hear for communication with employees, physicians, and patients.
  • Ability to use a wide array of office equipment including, but not limited to a PC, copier, fax machine, and multi-line telephone.
  • Employee is exposed to general indoor working conditions and may on occasion require light lifting or no greater than 20 pounds and some offsite travel.
