Brief Job Overview


 


This is a non-supervisory position in USP-India’s Analytical Research & Development Laboratory. In this role, the Scientist - I is responsible for providing NMR support for characterization or identification samples received from various laboratories of USP India such as ARD, Synthetic chemistry, RSL, Verification, CDL and Biologics. Scientist I will also perform a variety of non-routine and routine NMR tests, including evaluation of reference standards, evaluation of packaging materials and stability studies, and general research in NMR Lab.

The Scientist-I / Technical Associate has the following responsibilities:



  • [60%] Responsible for operation and maintenance of 500 MHz NMR instrument, recording and interpretation of NMR spectra for samples submitted by the Synthetic Organic Chemistry Lab, Reference Standards Lab, Biologics & Biotechnology Lab, and other sources as per ISO 17025.

  • [15%] Support Synthetic R&D projects from start to completion as per ISO 9001. Assist and maintain the safety aspects in the laboratory. Performs other related duties as per requirement. Prepare for ISO-9001 & ISO-17025 audits and related activities

  • [10%] Prepare, execute, and complete IQ/OQ/PQ of new instruments. Indent the required glass ware, chemicals, and columns for the ARD projects. Maintain GLP & implement safety procedures while working in Lab. Perform other Projects duties as assigned. 

  • [10%] Preparation and planning for ISO-9001 certification/recertification by participating actively, verification of protocols and related documents and take an active role in the internal as well as external QA audits and address the audit issues in a timely manner. Taking up any other responsibilities assigned by supervisor proactively. Participates in USP cross-functional team activities as appropriate.

  • [5%] Practice Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging principles at USP India


Who is USP Looking For?


The successful candidate will have a demonstrated understanding of our mission, commitment to excellence through inclusive and equitable behaviors and practices, ability to quickly build credibility with stakeholders, along with the following competencies and experience:



  • M.Sc. in Analytical Chemistry / Organic Chemistry, having 0-3 years of experience in handling the NMR spectrometer.

  • Hands on experience both in running the equipment and interpretation of results, characterization of the compound by spectral techniques (NMR, MASS, and IR).

  • Experience in analytical testing and development with focus on process analytical chemistry. Exposure to GMP/GLP environment, Understanding of GMP / ISO-IEC 17025 Guidelines and documentation procedures are required. 

  • A comprehensive understanding of the science involved in the development of synthetic organic molecules and analytical chemistry. 

  • Excellent technical writing and verbal communication skills are required

  • Good interpersonal skills and proven ability to function in a team-oriented environment are necessary.

  • Experience on biological molecules such as peptides, proteins and vaccines, Knowledge of solid-state NMR and multinuclear NMR operations is an advantage.

  • General chapter information, ELN, Empower and NuGenesis will be an added advantage.   

  • Able to communicate effectively with both internal and external customers. Preferably familiar with electronic notebook documentation of experimental procedures.  

  • Skilled in evaluation and interpretation of data; Ability to multi-task. 

  • Skilled in anticipating, troubleshooting, and solving technical problems. 

  • Takes personal responsibility to ensure work is delivered on time and is of the highest quality
