Kairos Power is a new nuclear energy technology and engineering company whose mission is to enable the world’s transition to clean energy, with the ultimate goal to dramatically improve people’s quality of life while protecting the environment. This goal will be accomplished through the commercialization of the fluoride-salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor (FHR) that can be deployed with robust safety, affordable costs, and flexible operation to accommodate the expansion of variable renewables.


Job Summary


As a Senior Content Writer, you will work with the Marketing Communications team to develop communications that connect stakeholders with Kairos Power’s mission and position the brand as a leader in a rapidly evolving industry. The Senior Content Writer will document the company’s progress in its iterative approach to technology development, reporting on testing, manufacturing, licensing, and construction activities and making them accessible to a lay audience. This is an excellent opportunity for a journalist or PR professional with experience communicating about nuclear power, energy, climate, or cleantech.


Responsibilities



  • Developing story ideas, researching topics, and conducting interviews with subject matter experts to report on Kairos Power’s progress on its path to commercializing KP-FHR technology

  • Traveling to Kairos Power locations to document testing, manufacturing, construction, and operations

  • Staying apprised of industry trends, market conditions, and relevant policy to contextualize Kairos Power’s commercial strategy and development approach

  • Capturing oral histories with Kairos Power co-founders, leadership, and employees to document the company’s story as it’s happening

  • Developing content that advances Kairos Power’s corporate narrative and aligns with business objectives, including articles, blog posts, fact sheets, newsletters, social media posts, and web pages


Qualifications 



  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, English, writing, engineering, or the sciences

  • 5+ years of experience working as a journalist, content writer, or public relations specialist with a strong portfolio of writing samples on technical topics - Please provide links to portfolio

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas in a clear and concise manner

  • Ability to understand complex technical information and communicate it to a lay audience

  • Familiarity with digital communication tools and social media platforms

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to work with a highly collaborative team

  • Ability to solve problems quickly and efficiently

  • Prioritizes and ensures the safety of oneself and others

  • Ability to proactively collect, manage, and transfer knowledge

  • Ability to seek different and novel ways to create efficiencies when working on problems, challenges, and issues


Physical Conditions



  • Moving self in different positions to accomplish tasks in various environments, including tight and confined spaces

  • Remaining in a stationary position, often standing, or sitting for prolonged periods

  • Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another

  • Adjusting, moving, transporting, installing, positioning, or removing objects up to 30 pounds in all directions

The salary range for this position is $106,600 to $125,400 for employees working onsite at our Alameda, CA headquarters. The range provided in this job posting represents the typical range or starting rate of candidates hired in California.
