Job Description

Summary:

The Senior Civil Engineer reviews the Civil design and documentation for Royal Commission (RC) projects that are part of the growth and expansion of the Jubail Industrial City (JIC) in the Eastern Province.

  • Performs civil highway design / design reviews in traditional and digital design environments and coordinates with other disciplines and departments for highway packages.
  • Performs reviews of RC packages, Technical Queries and Field Change Designs from Construction Department as well as technical submissions from investors.
  • Is able to utilize computer and computer codes to perform highway designs.
  • Incorporates lessons learnt and best practices in standard engineering documents such as procedures, design guides, criteria and specifications.
  • Supports the Lead Civil Engineer and/or Chief Civil in preparing Lessons Learnt, Engineering Bulletins, Project Presentations, etc.
  • Reviews Urban Planning - Land Allocation Requests (LAR’s).
  • Coaches Junior Engineers on a specific competency or subject area.
  • Accurately assesses a situation to find the best solution or way of working in order to resolve the issue. Is focused on creating a long term fix rather than short term work arounds.
  • Manages all interactions in a direct and transparent manner. Effective at keeping others informed on progress, so there are no surprises.
  • Demonstrates treating others respectfully, fairly and transparently, whether things are going well or when under pressure. Holds others to account when they see these values breached.
  • Experience in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia Preferred.

 

Technical:

  • A strong design experience is required in Highway Geometric Design according to AASHTO’s standards, roads safety, roadside design, survey, etc.
  • Conversant with the standard practices and procedures of International Design Codes and Standards, such as: AASHTO Highway Geometric Design, Road Design Guide, Manual on Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD).
  • Thorough knowledge of discipline engineering techniques, the design of engineered systems, design calculations, specifications and drawing requirements.
  • Significant experience with Civil 3D design and preferably also BIM / Digital Twin design processes and automation techniques
  • Experience in using road related software such as Vehicle Tracking is required.
  • Conducts quality reviews of projects, in accordance with engineering procedures and instructions and ensures consistency across project areas.

Qualifications

  • University/College graduate with bachelor in Civil Engineering or related.
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in Civil Engineering on large industrial and infrastructure jobs with emphasis in planning and hands on design of highways, intersections and interchanges.
