Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Senior Biodiversity Specialist to lead fieldwork, surveys, and research for ecological and environmental assessments, with a focus on Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA) and Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA).

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct fieldwork, surveys, and research for ecological and environmental assessments, contributing to Environmental and Social Impact Assessments (ESIA), Strategic Environmental Assessments (SEA), and related reports.
  • Collect and analyze data to assess project impacts on ecosystems and biodiversity.
  • Develop and implement mitigation strategies and environmental management plans, including Biodiversity Action and Management Plans, Offset Strategies, Critical Habitat Assessments, Protected Area Assessments, Invasive Species Management, and Ecosystem Services Assessments, in line with international standards.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to provide expert ecological and environmental advice to clients.
  • Communicate effectively with clients to understand their expectations and deliver tailored solutions.
  • Stay up to date with international environmental standards and integrate them into project workflows.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Environmental Science, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in biodiversity, environmental consultancy, or related fields.
  • Familiarity with international environmental regulations and standards.
  • Strong skills in ecological data collection, analysis, and reporting.
  • Experience with International Finance Institutions' environmental and social standards (e.g., WB ESF, IFC PS, EBRD PR).
  • Excellent communication and report-writing skills, with the ability to present clear, actionable insights.
  • Ability to work effectively in collaborative teams and manage multiple projects concurrently.
  • Written and spoken proficiency in English.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications.
