Security Superintendent
Holtec Security International is currently seeking a Security Superintendent at Palisades Power Plant in Covert, Michigan.

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The Security Superintendent reports to the Security Manager. The Security Superintendent is responsible for the overall implementation of the operations side of the security program, reviewing Security Operations work assignments to ensure the staff is responding appropriately, and implementing the program as designed. This is accomplished by the following: - Ensuring compliance with Nuclear Regulatory rules, regulations, commitments, and requirements; Ensure industrial safety is a top priority; Ensuring all aspects of the security program are conducted in accordance with established procedures, requirements, and commitments; Providing oversight of daily planning/scheduling of activities of the Security Force.
- Ensuring Security Operations Supervisors (SOS) are enforcing standards with their assigned teams; Ensuring SOS’s are staying in role and driving Security Shift Supervisors performance; Conducting monthly meetings with SOS’s to ensure team alignment and expectations are standardized. This allows for open communications on issues that need to be resolved; Overseeing the use of the MARC process and communicate with the Security Manager on activity.
- Monitor and assess the department’s safety culture and safety conscious work environment, determine if actions are necessary to address shortfalls in either area. Report shortfall in either area to the Security Manager; Verify that pertinent information is communicated down to all levels. Perform independent verification to ascertain effectiveness of departmental communications; Strictly enforce weapons handling protocols IAW approved training plans and fleet governance procedures.
- Directing appropriate investigations within the owner controlled and protected areas; Ensuring that on-site security activities and plans are coordinated with off-site support agencies; Ensuring security personnel are qualified in their assigned crucial tasks; Ensuring that required posts are properly manned; Ensuring security equipment is properly tested.
- Serving as a member of the Emergency Response Organization; Maintaining liaison with local law enforcement (LLEA); Ensure the SGI program is implemented IAW fleet governance procedures; Performing as the Area Owner for Housekeeping purposes; Maintain overtime at approved levels, monitor staffing levels and appropriately handle vacancies.
- Acting on behalf of the Security Manager in their absence; All other duties as assigned by the Security Manager.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMinimum education and/or experience required for the position:
- High School diploma or GED is required, or equivalent work experience. Desired: Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Engineering or other discipline generally associated with plant operations.
- 4 years of supervisory/management experience at an operating nuclear power plant. Desired: 4 years of experience in Nuclear Plant Security and experience supervising union and contract employees.
- No Licenses or Certifications required
Minimum knowledge, skills, and abilities required of the position:
- Technical proficiency in Nuclear Security or the ability to acquire it rapidly. Technical understanding of nuclear generation principles and operation. Desired: Proficiency with current computer business applications. Outstanding communication, conflict management, and change management skills.
