Reliability, Availability, Maintainability (RAM) Engineer Sr to be based in Água Branca/SP
What will you do?
You will join the Digital & Integrated Systems (D&IS) product line as a RAM Engineer and will be part of the Alstom D&IS RAM team in the LAM region. You will contribute to the design and the improvement of the Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability performance of our projects, systems and products.
You will lead, coordinate, and perform all the activities from the Tender phase up to the Operational phase, in order to ensure that our solutions are reliable, maintainable and available. For this, you will identify the best architecture according to the RAM performance requirements, customer’s needs and operational conditions. You will also guarantee a risk control for each requirement related to RAM and perform continuous reliability growth activities in projects and programs.
To assure the optimal performance level of our systems, you will be accountable for the main Reliability, Availability, Maintainability and Testability aspects over the lifecycle phases of the solutions.
Your key responsibilities will be to:
During Tender and Design phases, you will:
- Carry out RAM (Reliability Availability Maintainability) related activities in Projects & Programs in line with the Quality Cost Delivery (QCD) objectives and look for optimization of RAM performance while being mindful of other constraints (such as life cycle cost, safety, standards, etc.);
- Ensure the correct application of Alstom standard RAM Process, Methods, Tools;
- Make Design recommendations based on RAM studies (‘Design for Reliability’, ‘Design for Maintainability’, ‘Design for Testability’…) and check the adherence of the architecture choices to System and Customers’ RAM targets;
- Analyze complex solution architectures and perform Reliability and Lifetime predictions, by utilizing conventional RAM techniques such as Reliability Block Diagrams, RAM predictions, Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (FMEA/FMECA), Fault Tree Analysis, Availability & Service Reliability modelling, Degraded modes analysis and conduct Maintainability and Testability analysis;
- Support Tender and Sourcing teams to choose and integrate the products and systems in the projects.
During Operational phase, you will lead the following activities:
- Root Cause Analysis (RCA) from Field and Repair data;
- RAM classification of the reported failures (FRACAS);
- Reliability Growth analysis and action plans proposal & follow-up;
- Statistical analysis of collected data in order to ensure the relevance of your actions and conclusions for a better operational performance and Customer’s Satisfaction.
In this role, you will report directly to the RAM Department Head and, as the RAM reference for D&IS business, you will be assigned to the D&IS Engineering Director to whom you will report as dotted line.
Internally, you will interface with the Projects or Programs Core teams, the Engineering Métiers (System, Hardware, Software, Verification & Validation, etc.), but also with the Cybersecurity, Tenders, Sourcing, Installation, Warranty & Maintenance teams.
You will also be in contact with customers, suppliers and subcontractors, and with the worldwide D&IS RAM community.

Who are you?
- Bachelor’ degree on: Electrical Engineering; Mechanical Engineering; Electronics Engineering; Mechatronics Engineering; Automation Engineering;
- MBA or Advanced University ideally in Dependability (RAM or RAMS),
- Knowledge and experience in Railway Signaling or in other fields with high RAMS requirements (e.g. Aeronautics, Space, Defense, Automotive, Medical, Nuclear, Power, Civil Engineering, Machinery, Oil and Gas sectors),
- Reliability calculations & modelling;
- Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) calculations;
- Able to carry out statistical analyses, inferential and descriptive statistics;
- Preparation of Maintenance plans, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance tasks;
- Preparation of Maintenance Manuals;
- Understanding electrical/wiring schematics, Analog & Digital Electronics, Probability & Statistical concepts;
- Electrical /electronic hardware;
- Electronics at board level, troubleshooting;
- Ability to read wiring diagrams and schematics;
- Identification and analysis of failures, diagnosis, troubleshooting;
- Structured, organized, rigorous,
- Team player and proactive behavior,
- A flexible approach and the ability to work effectively against deadlines,
- Great problem identification and solving skills,
- Ability to drive activities performed by others (subcontractors, suppliers),
- Creativity and negotiation skills (tenders, failure reviews),
- Advanced skills on MS-Word and MS-Excel are required;
Desirable:
- Desired experience with Reliability related tools (ReliaSoft BlockSim, Aralia Fault Tree, ITEM Toolkit, Weibull ++ etc…);
- Desired experience with Statistical-related tools;
- Visual Basic for Applications (MS-VBA / macros);
- Languages/tools for Data Analytics (MS-Power BI, Qlik Sense, …);
- Knowledge in Artificial Intelligence
- Web based languages are desirable;
Previous Experience:
- Specific hands-on experience in RAM and mastering RAM methodology, concepts, methods and tools,
- Leadership experience as RAMS, Reliability Engineer, Maintenance, Engineer/Manager functions;
- Experience on execution of analyses of failures (cause and effect), root cause analysis.
- Experience on the identification and analysis of failures, diagnosis, troubleshooting;
- Experience on issuing reports and indicators;
- Experience on electronic hardware development or electronic hardware repair, analysis;
- Experience on Maintenance business as a Technician and/or an Engineer;
- Experience on preparation of troubleshooting guides and all the maintenance-related productions;
- Experience on the preparation of Maintenance plans, corrective maintenance, preventive maintenance tasks;
- Experience on the preparation of Maintenance Manuals;
Language Skills:

Desirable:
- English for conversation is a plus;
- Spanish is a plus;
Travel Required:
- Travel required: Occasionally.
