Minimum Requirements\: 



  • Bachelor’s and 2 years of experience or a Master’s or PhD in Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, Computer Science or related field

  • Previous experience with reactor physics, nuclear engineering, computational modeling, or project level code development is required 

  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy Q clearance, which requires US Citizenship.


Job Information\: 



  • The pay range for this position is $75,804.00 - $155,496.00. At Idaho National Laboratory compensation decisions are determined using factors such as education, relevant experience, and other credentials.

  • You are required to show a demonstrated commitment to valuing diversity and contributing to an inclusive working environment.

  • TDP\: This is a testing designated position; you will be required to submit to a pre-employment drug screen and periodic drug testing throughout the term of your employment.

Idaho National Laboratory is hiring a Nuclear Reactor and Multiphysics Engineer to work in our Special Reactor Concepts department. Our team works a 9x80 schedule located out of our Research Education Campus with every other Friday off. Hybrid work opportunities may be available for this position.


Idaho National Laboratory is looking for a staff researcher to perform computational modeling, design, and analysis that enables advanced terrestrial reactor, space reactor, and critical reactor experiments. You will report to the manager of Special Reactor Concepts.


Responsibilities Include:



  • The calculations will support research, development, and demonstration activities for the Department of Energy (DOE), National Nuclear Security Agency (NNSA), National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), and the Department of Defense (DoD) advanced nuclear reactors. 

  • Perform multi-physics analysis in support of neutronics, thermomechanics, core design and optimization, radiation shielding, and radiological hazard analysis. 

  • Work with the multi-disciplinary and inter-organizational teams, and provide reports/presentations to stakeholders.
