Thanks to a strong increase in business activity, we are currently recruiting a fulltime Nuclear Engineer Decommissioning Processes for a permanent position in our Brussels HQ, Namur, Hasselt or Ghent office (partial homework possible).
Function
As Nuclear Engineer Decommissioning Processes you will join our dynamic team which is responsible for the expertise field related to Radiation Protection, Radioactive Waste Management and Nuclear Decommissioning. In close collaboration with your colleagues, your Group Manager and the Project Manager, you conduct Engineering Studies related to the preparation of the Nuclear Decommissioning of the Belgian Nuclear Power Plants. This includes also new build projects (indeed, “we need builders to dismantle”). You will mainly work from our office (with a possibility to do partial homework), some projects might require on-site interventions.
Core responsibilities
Technical expertise
- Knowledge of nuclear decommissioning processes in general
- Knowledge about cutting- and decontamination techniques;
- Knowledge about radioactive material- and waste flows during dismantling;
- Knowledge about nuclear decommissioning of the main components of the primary circuit;
- Knowledge about the management of the decommissioning inventory
- Knowledge about the implementation of the decommisioning concept on site
- Writing technical specifications, technical follow-up of contracts and decommissioning activities.
- Capacity to propose element of methodology
Collaboration
- Verify the technical work performed by your peers;
- Provide regular feedback about ongoing activities;
- Actively engage in knowledge sharing with others;
- Working in close relationship with the final Client and interact with Safety Authorities and the Radioactive Waste Management Agency.
- Self-sufficiency and capacity to support peers in their tasks is a must

Working environment
Within the Tractebel Business Area Global Nuclear, you will join one of our technical departments which is managed by the Head of Métier and the Group Managers. Together with the engineers in the teams, we cover all Engineering aspects in the field of:
- Radiation Protection, Radiological Characterization and Radiation Monitoring;
- Radioactive Waste Management (both waste from operational and from dismantling operations);
- Nuclear Decommissioning Processes (preparation of the dismantling of the Belgian Nuclear Power Plants).

Your profile
Minimum requirements:
- a Master’s degree in Engineering / Sciences;
- Language: (French or Dutch) and English;
- Knowledge of the Belgian Nuclear Ecosystem;
- Working principles of a Nuclear Power Plant (type Pressurized Water Reactor);
- Working Experience in the nuclear sector is an asset.
