Shizen Energy Group was founded in the wake of the Fukushima nuclear crisis to develop renewable power projects in Japan in 2011. Job Description

Act as Deputy to the CFO and to head the Controlling function of Shizen International in Tokyo, Japan and its subsidiaries to:

  • Assist the CFO in managing the overall financial operations of the Group
  • Support, challenge and drive the financial decisions and priorities of the various businesses
  • Help develop and implement financial strategies
  • Help oversee budgeting/forecasting/liquidity management processes and creating financial reports for financial reporting and budgeting processes (including our accounting service providers) to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Help develop and implement financial strategies, policies and procedures to ensure fiscal accountability.
  2. Monitor and analyse financial performance, providing guidance and recommendations to the CFO and other senior-level management.
  3. Oversee the preparation of financial statements, reports and analysis to assess the financial performance of the organisation and provide guidance for decision-making.
  4. Manage the budgeting process, ensure compliance with internal controls, and coordinate financial audits.
  5. Lead the development of short- and long-term financial plans and forecasts.
  6. Monitor the development and implementation of accounting systems and controls to ensure accuracy and reliability of financial data.
  7. Review and approve monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting (both internal and external).
  8. Develop and oversee tax strategies and plans to ensure compliance with local regulations together with our accounting service providers and tax service providers..
  9. Maintain relationships with external auditors, bankers and other financial institutions.
  10. Advise/support on investments, mergers and acquisitions, disposals and other financial transactions.
  11. Oversee all treasury activities - in particular paying close attention to liquidity management and forecasting across the group.
  12. Take a leading role in the implementation of a new ERP system across the Group.
  13. Drive and support effective working relationships across Shizen Energy and to support the Shizen International CxO team.

Skills and Experiences

【Required】

Skills and Experiences

  • At least 12 years of combined accounting, finance, and consolidation experience, with a proven track record as a financial controller
  • Chartered Accountant qualification (CPA, ACCA, ACA/CA or equivalent)
  • Experience in preparing and/or reviewing consolidated financial statements under IFRS
  • Experience in designing and implementing controls over financial reporting
  • Experience in treasury management
  • Experience in financial risk management
  • FP&A (budgeting/forecasting) experience
  • Strong team management skills

Language

Fluent English is required.

【Preferred】

  • Previous work experience in one of the "Big 4" or comparable accounting firms
  • Knowledge and experience of auditing & governance
  • Experience in a related role within the Renewable Energy industry
  • Experience working for a startup or a "Unicorn" company
