Geotechnical Field / Lab Technician (Pasadena)

Earth Systems is currently seeking a Geotechnical Field / Lab Technician for our Pasadena, CA offices.

Are you looking for a career that gets you outdoors and in the lab? As a Geotechnical Field / Lab Technician, you will travel from site to site collecting soil samples from field sites and performing technical analysis in lab. Geotechnical Field / Lab Technicians are key members of the geotechnical team of professionals who test and analyze soil samples to provide clients with compositional data and recommendations.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:  

• Perform routine and advanced field tests related to soils engineering and construction
• Perform both routine and advanced lab tests related to field and soils, and construction materials
• Assists in technical computations and analyses
• Perform complex tests under close supervision
• Assists in the coordination of field and laboratory work
• Operate and maintain field testing equipment, perform troubleshooting, and maintain calibration of equipment
• Perform other related duties and responsibilities as assigned

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

• Prior experience working in a geotechnical environment preferred
• Must be familiar with Microsoft programs
• Math, analytical, and writing skills are required and must be willing to “learn by doing”
• Must have reliable transportation and a clean driving record

Education and Licensure:

• High school or equivalent required
• An associate degree in geoscience or engineering preferred
• Nuclear testing gauge, ACI, ICC, DSA, and AWS certifications preferred

The expected pay range for this position is $20-35 per hour. Exact rate is dependent on several factors such as experience, skills, education/certifications, and geographic location.
