Are you interested in being part of an innovative team that supports Westinghouse’s mission to provide clean energy solutions? At Westinghouse, we recognize that our employees are our most valuable asset and we seek to identify, attract and recruit the best talent !
Reporting directly to the Product Engineering management based in Columbia, South Carolina, you will be the link between Westinghouse Electric Company’s fuel engineering team and our largest fuel customer (EDF). You will ensure both EDF and Westinghouse have a comprehensive and thorough understanding of the fuel’s justification from an engineering context within their reactors. In addition to Product Engineering, working within their French and Swedish Westinghouse counterparts, plus third parties, you will benefit from their expertise and client’s knowledge to be able to comply with fuel requirements in the French context and help identify additional engineering business opportunities.
- Your role is crucial as it will help the overall Westinghouse engineering teams in the United States and Europe to further develop their leadership role in addressing fuel justification issues or in being proactive on fuel engineering developments.
- As technical coordinator in the fuel engineering area, you will contribute to consolidate client and French regulator aspects of fuel operation, provide relevant customer and regulatory information to the Westinghouse organizations, identify potential gaps and risks in Westinghouse and client approaches to fuel issues/solutions, and support guiding engineering projects to successful resolutions.
- It will also be necessary to understand and acquire the knowledge of the engineering studies that support the justification of Westinghouse fuel assemblies for EDF reactors in France, including studies made by EDF. You will have to deal with information collection and evolution of requirements follow-up (with EDF and the French regulatory organizations, ASN/IRSN). In this complex relationship, your goal is to identify engineering needs in support of EDF’s fuel product evolutions, plus assist the engineering teams on EDF’s fuel justification techniques. With your full understanding of these requirements, you will also support the development of Westinghouse’s long-term strategic plans in fuel engineering and product development.
- You also have a role in providing technical coordination between EDF and Westinghouse in engineering projects during the quote and execution phases. You may also participate directly in fuel engineering studies performed for EDF as author/reviewer.
