The Diagnostic Imaging (DI) Program supports a high volume of diverse adult and pediatric patients and families, providing service within Radiology, CT, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, Ultrasound, Mammography, OBSP and BMD. This department operates 24 hours per day, seven days per week.

 

The successful candidate will be responsible for clerical functions necessary for the smooth operation of the DI department; primarily for MRI bookings and including greeting patients, answering telephones, patient documentation, filing and retrieval, patient registration, order entry, use of the Meditech electronic health record systems, use of PACS, processing requisitions and data entry and reception duties, performing these duties in other areas of Diagnostic Imaging, as required. This position works days, evenings and weekends and weekend evenings.

 

The role of the Diagnostic Imaging Clerk is to support the entire Diagnostic Imaging team in their goal to provide the best possible patient care at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Responsibilities will vary from working directly with patients to ensuring patient scheduling, preparation, registration and requisition management is accurate and complete. 

 

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Diagnostic Imaging patient reception and registration (includes clerical functions for MRI as well as CT, X-Ray, Ultrasound, BMD & Mammography)
  • DI requisition management, including but not limited to Ocean Portal E-referral requisition system processing, patient screening, profiling, scheduling, interaction with Radiologists and technologists to determine booking protocols and prioritization
  • Scheduling patients according to WTIS Priority codes and CT and MRI protocols
  • Working with radiologists, Diagnostic Imaging technologists and other CMH departments to ensure the efficient scheduling of appointments
  • Verbal and written communication with patients, radiologists, technologists, referring physicians and their office personnel and other CMH departments
  • Clerical support duties including CD burning from PACS, film library maintenance, retrieving x-ray films as required
  • Other clerical and reception duties as required 

The physical demands of the role may include but are not limited to prolonged sitting, standing, walking, bending, lifting, pushing and pulling. This position requires reaching for, and lifting of, x-ray film files. This position contributes to ensuring there is a safe environment for patients, staff and visitors. This is a full time position to work days and evenings including weekends and weekend evening shifts.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Community College Diploma in Medical Office Administration required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ current experience with CT, MRI, and other imaging booking processes is required
  • A minimum of 2 years’ current experience with Radiology module of Meditech and CWS module is required
  • Proficient knowledge of WTIS Priority codes, MRI and CT examinations are required
  • Proven knowledge and skill in using computers MS Windows, Outlook and Word
  • Current experience with Ocean Portal e-referral processes required
  • Current experience with PACS access and retrieval of images is required
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organization and time management skills are required
  • Exemplary telephone manner is mandatory
  • Demonstrated knowledge of Medical Terminology related to Diagnostic Imaging is required
  • Experience with alphanumeric filing systems is required
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and prioritize in an environment with competing priorities is essential
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team is required
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to providing outstanding customer focused patient care is required
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work on a regular basis is required.
