Job Description






We are looking for a Department Manager - Specialized Nuclear Services.

With multiple office locations, you can be active in Villers-le-Bouillet, Dessel or Grimbergen. Also some international travels to be foreseen.

As an Equans Department Manager, you plan, organize, lead, coordinate and control all offers and projects and related business activities of the department concerned, in order to reach the targeted objectives from a commercial, customer relationship, project implementation, financial turnover, budget, profit and resources management point of view. HSEQ aspects are also a priority (safety first). You have the full responsibility of P&L with the support of some divisional or corporate services (HR, purchase, legal, etc.). You manage and coordinate these activities in the context of the group strategy and within the set framework for one's specific department following the market evolution & opportunities.

 

Main accountabilities:

  • strategy:
    • you define and implement the business strategy & vision for your department in alignment with the general group strategies
  • HSEQ:
    • your ambition is to reach the highest HSEQ standards on your projects and within your department and you put an organization in place in order to do so
  • synergies:
    • you stimulate cross-departmental, -divisional, -entity collaboration on offers and projects
  • commercial & business development:
    • you stimulate and encourage the development of services & markets. In contact with clients, you lead the negotiations for major contracts
    • you lead the commercial activities of your department
  • in cooperation with your technical teams, you are accountable for the technical solutions that you will integrate in your offers and later, in the realization of the projects
  • business supervision:
    • you define, follow-up and achieve the commercial, financial, servicing and development targets
    • you implement and supervise the agreed actions during business reviews, etc. in order to achieve the departmental strategy
  • profitability optimization:
    • you maximize business performance for the short and long term
  • team leadership and people management:
    • you lead and coordinate the HR related activities within your department and ensure cohesion between your teams
    • within your department, you manage a diversity of teams: an operational, engineering, project, tendering, sales and contract & risk management team
    • you develop a middle and long term HR strategy taking into account the age pyramid, the competence needs of your department and the hiring possibilities, in cooperation with the HR organization

 

What do you need?

  • experience of 5 to 10 years in Nuclear is an added value
  • experience in a project driven environment, preferably within the industrial market (incl. specific HSEQ aspects) is an interesting skill regarding the context of D&D
  • experience in people management is needed. Proven leadership skills incl. good understanding of HR related topics
  • you can demonstrate an experience in risk & contract management in industrial projects.
  • business acumen and clear client/commercial focus & vision is needed
  • financial insights on business related topics & experience in P&L responsibility is a must
  • able to work in a constructive way in a cross-departmental environment and across Equans’ entities
  • you are result & client oriented
  • you are flexible, motivated and enthusiastic
  • you are stress resistant
  • you have a very high level of business spirit
  • ability to work in team with the numerous players of the Equans organization: logistics, HR, Legal, Procurement,…

 

As part of Equans' more global strategy focused on multi-technical services for the nuclear industry, SNS is today a department active in supporting the operation and dismantling of nuclear facilities. It offers technical and logistical services to support the operation of a nuclear facility in the field of material handling, decontamination, radiological measurement and release. The activities are carried out in an exclusively nuclear environment, e.g. SGS, pumps and motors on primary and secondary circuits, waste management units, etc.

SNS also has specific expertise in nuclear transport and logistics solutions, including the design, management and maintenance of nuclear packaging.  This area of activity extends to internal and external logistics, the receipt or disposal of fuel, as well as the disposal of waste to the appropriate channels. Remote handling is also one of the specialized services for the purpose of treating more complex waste remotely

All the services offered make SNS a unique player in the supplying of services to the nuclear industry in Belgium and neighboring countries. Among the major projects in progress, one is to dismantle reactor internals, the engineering and construction of a remote manipulation module platform, and the chemical decontamination of elbows on the primary circuit.

Department data:

  • 30 M€ turnover/year
    • organized in 2 sections with respective section managers (SEM)
    • internal support functions reporting to the Department Manager (DEM): Head of Health Physics, Tender- & Contracting Manager, Operational Support Coordinator
  • 300 employees: mix of blue collars, white collars and exempts
    • contacts with national & international clients, engineering companies, subcontractors, suppliers
    • multi-technical industrial environment (equipment, mechanical, chemical, etc.)
