We want someone passionate about engineering mechanics and problem solving.
Work on our Engineering Mechanics and Infrastructure (EMI) team, applying engineering mechanics, materials science, numerical simulation, innovative technologies, and collective expertise to solve our clients’ toughest problems. Work on engineering projects related to buildings, bridges, pipelines, nuclear facilities, tanks, rail vehicles, rotating equipment, precision observatory structures, and other non-building structures and systems.
What You’ll Do:
• Performing structural analyses under supervision.
• Designing new structures and repairs of existing structures.
• Performing linear and nonlinear finite element analyses, under supervision, using programs such as ABAQUS and ANSYS.
• Working on solving engineering problems independently and on project teams.
• Assisting in preparation of engineering proposals, letters, reports, calculations, drawing, specifications, budgeting, scheduling, and client communication.
• Managing engineering tasks and small projects under the supervision of the principal in charge.
• Reviewing work by technicians, draftsmen, and others assisting the project team.
• Conducting field inspections and engineering QA.
• Conducting engineering calculations, using software such as Matlab and Mathcad.
Eligible to telecommute 2 days/week from a home office within normal commuting distance of Los Angeles, CA.
Minimum Requirements:
Masters degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, Engineering Mechanics, or closely-related field and 5 years of experience in structural engineering.
Experience, which may have been gained concurrently with primary requirement above, must include 5 years of:
• Working with structural analysis, structural dynamics, structural design, geomechanics and geotech-related analysis (e.g., Plaxis 2D and 3D), repair design using CFRP and other advanced materials, and engineering mechanics.
• Working with probabilistic concepts such as risk and reliability, uncertainty quantification, random vibration, and/or stochastic processes.
• Working with commercial FEA computer programs, including ABAQUS and FEMAP.
• Using computer programming and scripting tools for engineering computations.
• Working with at least one of the following tools: Mathcad, MATLAB, Python and/or VBA.
Must have Professional Engineer (PE) or Structural Engineer (SE) license.
Position requires up to 20% International/Domestic Travel to project sites.

Anticipated annual base salary: $106,744 - $118,000/yr. This is a good faith estimate provided pursuant to the CA Pay Transparency Law.
